Of course, now that I say that, the only one in my local area is marked up 10k, but I did find one in my hometown.

Interior accent lighting is interesting. Curious if it's plug & play with a 370z. No doubt aftermarket systems way better at the price point...

I think it looks worse than the stock Z. Those fender toppers are beyond stupid, the front is even more boring, the back is okay, and the spoiler looks dumber than the stock one. A big step backwards, again.

After seeing a couple of 400Z's here (one close up) I have gone right off their design shape. I particularly really hate the back of them.

The auto only truly makes no sense to me.

I saw this and literally said WTF?! I don't understand this, from an optics perspective. I mean if their goal was to be as fast as possible, meh ok? But why make the top version of the new Z only auto when every other version below it has a manual option available?

i would understand if it was a pdk
or a transaxle dct.
or ANYTHING special at all compared to the performance model
But this looks like the 370z nismo. a lazy body kit, some seats and some software/tuning changes.

there's nothing special about it that it needs to be auto only.

And there were rumors that the Nismo Z was gonna be a bigger upgrade than during the Z34 generation, even being a "baby gtr"

Using the standard auto-only is baffling

This is probably going to push 65-70k, and it's a decade old chassis. It needs to have a ton of stuff on it to be remotely attractive

The aero is fine, i think an improvement over stock, especially that regular front end bumper which stank

The wing is ugly; they should have had a raised GT style wing

I think they are using the GTR-Brembos over the Akebonos, so thats something

But there needs to be massive cooling upgrades, diff upgrades, interior upgrades, bracing, etc

but that would cost too much. Would be out of price point for target market.

So I'm not saying this didn't play a factor, but I think it swayed their decision towards getting as much return on each model sold as possible. If you compare the A91-MT Supra to the Proto Spec Z, MSRP wise, you are only saving $6k going with the Z. In comparison, my view, is that you have a less potent power plant with the Z, given what we know with the new Supra and what's it's been proven to hold HP wise. I feel like the better "investment" would be the Supra for the powerplant alone, not to mention that comparatively in my opinion, I think it's a better looking car.
All this to say, that with the new Nismo, Nissan missed an opportunity to take a potent punch at the Supra by offering a bigger bang for the buck. You are already using an existing frame/suspension geometry, existing powerplant, and existing interior bits (obviously not all interior is carried over from the 370). It just doesn't make sense to me that they couldn't take that money saved with the 400, given the above, and pour it into the new Nismo. Sure the brakes are nice, but that's it as far as hardware, and even then, that's bin parts from the GTR. Unless the internals of the engine are beefed up told hold more power consistently for an open deck, I can't see how this is anything more than a cash grab from Nissan wrapped in a shiny "new" package.
