Well, turns out Nissan is hitting the pause button on truck manufacturing right now, citing chip supplies.

I am not late. Nissan and other manufacturers had already made broad statements abount supply constrictions, last night is when Nissan added "trucks" the the affected vehicles.

Anyways, it's a mess. I hope at that Q & A tomorrow they will inform us of when the Z will be available.
I'm done hearing about the "emotion" of the design process!

triso07 02-04-2021 10:30 AM

Yeah time to release some details. The design stuff has worn very thin at this point.

More information coming later this year.

What a let down, basically no new information...

Toyota might introduce a manual for the 2.0T, the WRX might actually get modern, and the new 2 series BMW is looking good. I hope Nissan actually gives this Z a chance.

Who knows.. these people say they know what engine will be in it, and it will be released later this year.?

Infiniti 400 Red Sport engine confirmed for Nissan Z Proto

There has been much speculation about the Nissan Z Proto's engine. We've long suspected that the Z concept was powered by the 400-horsepower twin-turbo V6 from the Infiniti 400 Red Sport series. Now that hunch has been confirmed by photos of the Z Proto's engine bay.

Though it's a fully running concept, Nissan has never opened the hood of the Z Proto for the press. However, a lucky photog happened to be at the Nissan Crossing showroom in the ritzy Ginza shopping district of Tokyo just as workers had the hood popped. The venue is a popular showcase for Nissan's latest and greatest, and displays rotate frequently. This looks like an after-hours change over, but Instagrammer layersworks was able to take a few shots through the large picture window.

While the engine cover on the Z Proto is different than the one shrouding the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 400 Red Sport, there are other clues that point to the VR30DDTT. The biggest one are the three coolant caps situated at the front of the engine bay. With two staggered ones on the left of the image and one on the right, they're positioned exactly like they are in the Infiniti. Between the two columns of caps, there are coolant hoses in the same orientation as on the Infiniti.

The engines are known to be underrated from the factory by respected tuners, and put out at-the-wheels horsepower ratings that are close to or match the official figures taken at the crankshaft. Since its introduction in 2016, there have also been a slew of aftermarket options made available. All this is to say that the Nissan Z could be a performance bargain.

Nissan has confirmed that the Z will go on sale later this year.

Pretty much the most reliable news outlet in Japan says March 2022 release date for the Z (which aligns with the job 1 production start in January 2022 Carmaker1 and NissanFreak81 have reported):

Also, a refresh with a mild-hybrid for the GTR by the end of next year.

Disclaimer: while this is what is PLANNED, still not holding my breath as Nissan executives could pull the plug on those plans at any time with the red ink and pandemic.

New close-up video. Said it before but I'll say it again; the more videos I see of the car, the more I'm liking it. Would love to see it in other body colors. I think it's gonna look wicked in black.

EDIT: 8:40 to see it driving.

For the gtr, are those just artist renderings? I assume so.
What did they say the power was going to be?

I'll be in my bunk!

OFFICIAL NEW Z REVEALED *LEAKED*

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-rFz5e-nMA

NOTICE they changed the color of the oval shapes in the grille to body color. Really helps get rid of that rectangle shape. Also added a small spoiler on the hatch. Take my money NOW!!!

EDIT* AUTOMATIC shifter in the interior pictures on this one. Also gun metal wheels and the brakes look like the 4 piston Akebonos from the current 370Z.

EDIT2* After looking over more carefully you can see sensors in the front and rear bumpers as well as a big square detection sensor in the grill for driver assistance. Red side reflector on the rear and amber reflector on the side of the headlights. The carbon fiber appears to be replaced with regular black plastic trim as well.

Ok now the Z looks fire in this color. The spoiler on the rear really ties it together. However honest opinion I don't think I'd buy one. The reason is simple I can almost guarantee I will be able to make one on my existing 370z much cheaper than I can buy one. The chassis is the same basically so if I wanted I should be able to take the body panels off the 400z and put them on the 370z (or someone will make a body kit) I can already drop a vr30 in the 370z for cheap (those motors are not expensive) and I enjoy the physical guages more than the digital ones in the interior. Add in the cost increase we will see and I bet I could do it a good bit cheaper than buying a new one and selling my old one.

Edit: So taking the Maxima price increase it got for 2009 to 2021 model it's a 7k increase for the base model. I expect the same or more for the Z which in my opinion isn't going to fly with consumers.
