[OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Nissan 400Z Z35?

If you've been around more well executed digital gauge clusters (Audi digital cockpit comes to mind), you're probably suspicious Nissan sourced Fisher Price's "My First Digital Gauge Cluster" for this

Otherwise, this car is a solid starting point. Was hoping to learn more, but it was clear Cuban-Fabio wasn't going to do more than marketing speak after about 5 minutes of "heritage" and "design" so I muted it and went to look for pictures elsewhere.

I'll keep my eye out.

The front grill and headlights are

My 10 year old could pen that rectangular front grill in 2 sec cant believe took them 10 years to figure out a rectangular front grill and lazy looking eyes.

I’ say excellent on the side and rear look, the Interior kinda still eiffy.

I wish they change the front and eyes in the actual final design.....It looks sleepy and lazy...maybe the engine and handling performance will change all that I hope.

I present the Nissan Proto Z Front End 2.0

No, but jokes aside with my horrible paint skills, if you can envision what I'm trying to picture here.

To each their own.

I personally think it's ugly, and makes me appreciate my 370Z that much more. This proto just doesn't flow and looks forced, for lack of better words. Despite having years to prepare, it seems as if the proto was put together half-@$$ed and at the last minute. I do like the wheels though. The front reminds me of a variation of an s2k, and the proportions just don't seem right between the front and the back when looking from the side (too long of a nose and too short of an @$$). Car doesn't look aggressive and looks like it's smiling (picture teeth where the grill is).

Carlos Ghosn is probably laughing his @$$ off right now looking at this concept.

Everything new is wonderful... let’s keep that in mind during these times

Here’s my dilemma, I am very fortunate to have a Nismo Z and a RedSport 400 Q50 essentially my draw to this is that’s it’s the dream mash up between the 2. All the benefits of the Z chassis and manual trans but the power plant of the 3.0t VR tuned by Seb this thing is more than alright

But....

I agree with most of you the front end is FUGLY. Side profile pretty badass. Rear is screaming for that duckbill and the mutant radioactive neon glow is blinding us from all that juicy carbon from the diffuser.

Interior that screen behind the steering wheel better actually do something more than just report the news. The gauge cluster in the Z34 and previous models is iconic. Not gonna lie that’s a bummer for me. Infotainment system hopefully meets at least a B average based on the dark ages we’ve been in (that goes for both Nissan brands frankly).

We shall see, already starting to see the fun with photoshop out there and that’s exciting....

Okay so one issue I have here, is with which lens focal length they chose to use during most of this.

I'm lost on why people are OBSESSED with refusing to use something in the sweet spot of 100-200mm for vehicle photography? It's like every car commercial has some special rule where they HAVE to use a wide angle lens from 16-50mm...

Wider angles make just about every vehicle look stupid... This is why you're stuck waiting until seeing something in person and then your'e saying: "oh...that's not so bad... or Oh wow!! looks amazing..."

Honestly I thought the C8 looked HORRIBLE In photographs, and then have now seen a few in person and not so bad/even great at some angles.

Lets hope the same for the new Z.

Now I think we're on to something here.. courtesy of reddit..

The Proto color is dreadful and definitely hides the lines. Not to mention the lighting in the livestream didn't help either. However, what also helps with that blocky front end is either getting rid of or changing the bottom lip color to black.

Good effort, but it still looks too square and chunky, more like a muscle car than a Z.

That red one looks about 4000% better than the lemon-lime one they used.

Agreed. Color is everything. Also hiding the bottom lip of the rectangle grille definitely makes it look better.

Don't mind my horrible paint editing, but I tried to visualize what the side air crevices could look like. Also changed a bit of the top of the front grille shape to be less square. I think something like this would look great.

I love the new Z! I think they did an amazing job considering the limitations they are under. This is a refresh of the 370Z and not a whole new car. The budget for this refresh was around $240 million from what I've heard. A whole new chassis would cost over a billion. I even like the refreshed 370Z interior. Everything is in the same spots as before. The turbo impeller speed gauge is very cool. The turbos can get up to 240,000 rpm which is mind-blowing. I even like the rectangular grill. Stark and modern. This is how you do a modern take of beloved models from the past. As a current 370Z 6MT owner and former 300ZX 5MT owner, I am extremely pleased with what they have done. It's a miracle they are going to make this car at all.

Well now we need to know the numbers, how well it will perform and how well it's like being tuned.

I've always been a Toyota supra fan. But this Z is by far the better looking car.

Although I'm not sure about the rectangular shaped front grill

I'll be in my bunk!
