I have been a longtime reader (and I mean really long), and it's been been more than a roller coaster ride. Several years of 370z successor anticipation, followed by years of WTF Nissan, followed by acceptance of the successor won't happen, and now this surprise. Boy has cried wolf so many times I am really surprised this time there really was a wolf.

Now with this in mind, who cares front bumper is little fugly. Z is coming and folks are still going to get it. Kind of like getting married even though you know she is fugly. Yeah she is fugly but that ride...
Changing the front bumper is much easier than changing another screwed up part of a car. If you don't like the front grill, there will be many options available. The aftermarket on this car is going to be big.

Face it. One day it will be hybrid or just straight up electric.
People bitch way too much.
It's better to keep the Z alive vs discounting it.
We know there will be plenty aftermarket available

I'll be in my bunk!

Look for a up tick in hybrids around 2025. In 2030, in some euro countries. No new fossil fueled vehicles will be sold.

After reading all the post this morning I have one quick question for the haters...

You really going to judge a new Z on its grill? Seriously? How many of you actually thought there would even be a new Z? I know I didn’t. And as far as being a “parts bin refresh” I say at least it’s made from NISSAN Parts, unlike the Supra which was made from a different company‘s parts bin all together. I read the horror stories for Supra owners going in for warranty work and being turned down because they don’t know what they’re doing. You won’t have that problem here.

So, yea, the grill is ugly, I can change that eventually. Give me a genuine factory parts product that puts out 400 HP with a manual trans for $40,000 and I’ll be the first in line. If it sells decently the aftermarket parts will be off the hook.

I feel comfortable with the fact that Amuse (for sure) will come up with something killer for the front end. What would be a bonus is if their current offerings fit the new car....

If the underpinnings are the same as the current model, then there are already a bunch of parts that will swap over, and I suspect there are more than a couple of folks on this forum that are itching to swap that 3.0TT into a 370. I find it intriguing, but I want to wait and touch one before I decide. I've only had my current car for 2 years & the boss lady says I don't get to have 2 toys....

General Public: why can’t anyone build an affordable sports car, with rear wheel drive, a manual trans, and not too much tech?

Nissan: hey over here!

General Public: Nah, the grill is ugly.

Too be honest looking at it straight on from the back, at what looks like a standing height, it doesn't look as bad as I thought. The rear hips are definitely wider than they appear which is something I was worried would be lost in the styling. I like the carbon fiber diffuser still. The body colored "bulge" in the back that separates the top and bottom could maybe use some tweaking. Maybe more aggressive lines? The one thing I still have distaste for is the black strip between the tail lights. I think that would look better body colored.

Again, I think this yellow/neon color they chose makes it look worse than it really is. However, I must say the more I look at the car and really examine the details it is looking better and better to me. And I think it needs a small spoiler or ducktail of sorts. That would really make it pop better.

Before I get jumped for this question, I understand they could still style a bit better on the grill. I kind of like it but, do you think maybe the decision may have been half cosmetic, half functionality? I mean, what was a big complaint about the 370Z, cooling correct? I don't mind some functionality over style. Kind of like buying wheels for their lightness over style, same dif.

I think the look of the rear would be close to perfect if the tail lights were recessed. Similar to how this sketch shows the rear:

What do you guys think of this new render I did of the rear?

I made the tail lights a little longer, got rid of that middle black area, and reworked the body line engravings. Instead of the oval shape it had, I brought down the lines on bottom outer side of the tail lights towards the diffuser to help give more emphasis on the width of the rear fenders. Also, instead of keeping the "bulge" lines connected, I disconnected those and brought them down on each side, flowing with the natural curvature of the design and left them disconnected at the bottom.

Also I think a carbon fiber spoiler would look great.

Looks so much better. I like the idea Nissan had. I just think the tail lights look too skinny for that large rear and as much as I love diffusers, they need to tamp that lower back area down some.

My opinion is that all the pieces are there but they need to be refined. I think the headlights are unique but could be a bit bigger, the grill needs to be redone, larger tail lights and smaller diffuser/lower bumper would help out the rear. Loving the side profile.

Better!

Now put some paint color on the rear hatch and roof.

I'd also like to see either a lower diffuser, or for it to incorporate some body color.

This is something quick I did so it looks a little sloppy, but you get the idea. I do like the body colored roof much better than the black for sure. I kept the side blade because I think that helps give the car a more flowing appearance. It looks better in black for sure. But the bottom portion body colored I must say looks pretty good while still keeping the lower part of the diffuser.
