all of these renders seem to be struggling reconciling the z34's very round, bulbous tailend with the sharper, angled silhouette

Nissan is going to really tighten up the rear end for it to flow correctly if they want sharper edges. Look at how the F-Type does it:

The rear seems to be shorter than the Z34, much less over hang. Also, the slope of the rear hatch does not curve back up like the Z34 - it just comes to a more abrupt, defined end. The rear fender arch flows into it flawlessly, and the bumper follows those lines as well.

The Z34 rear hump where the tailllights are located is probably the biggest flaw in the design, that whole area is just too much mass. I suspect they had to do it for cargo space, and also because the platform would be shared with the larger G37 coupe/sedan

Fortunately, the official silhouette released by Nissan seems to do a much better job than these renders:

Look at the rear hatch and the line is creates. That line (c-pillar) flows continuously to the very end of the car. It doesn't curve out and up like the 350 or 370z; it keeps flowing downward and then ends sharply. This angle shows the rear fender and c-pillar better:

Looks WAY more F-type than Z33/34 - a much shorter overhang, less rear mass in the rear arches. These are all good things, and hopefully the "Z34.5" will retain the same cavernous rear wheel wells that fit massive wheels easily.

Really, the Z34's suspension is pretty good for this level of sports car. The biggest improvements will always be weight and adjustability. There's no reason why Nissan can't build in some sort of camber/caster/toe adjustment at both ends. Using aluminum arms would also help. Lighter parts + adjustable alignment are two easy fixes for the platform's biggest weaknesses

Exactly. These renderings are basically completely ignoring the shape, proportions, and lines already revealed from these images.

It makes NO sense. If you want to speculate about the front or side, then use the images given as a reference.

You're right, but the official video has been heavily doctored, so speculation is okay.

The production model will be beautiful, but will it be as beautiful as the 370? I reckon the styling of the 370 will be very hard to beat - and time will prove this to be true.

Most of these renders defy the lines that are obvious in the silhouette. But hey... go ahead. Knock yourselves out.

Exactly. These renderings are just plain stupid. I wish someone with these skills would spend the time doctoring the screen captured images from the video, since, you know, we already SAW the real ******* car.

Some of these renders are from way before Nissan released the teaser video. Most of the ones that took a 370 body and modified it are ancient, and others are just dumb. I'm going to reserve judgement until I physically see the car, either at the Tokyo Auto show or on the dealer floor. Otherwise, it's like Sammy Hagar said 'It's all just mental masturbation".....

Correct me if I'm wrong - but are they thinking of doing 2 different engines - hence the 300hp Base car or is that something that you are thinking they will do?

Other than that - do you really think the sport will jump up to close to $40K? I know this is your estimate but If that is the case - I see myself keeping my current ride vs looking at getting a new one - man prices of sports cars have gone up when you think about it. The Camaro, the Mustang, the Supra and even the CTR (if you consider a modded from factory 4door econobox a sports car - I do haha).

If the Z gets up to 55K who would consider a C8 Corvette for 60K?
That's what I would do.

sticker on my 09 370 non nismo 7AT nav sport touring with every option except the light up kick panels was 47k so 55k for 2021 nismo sounds on par.

also, i would take a Z over a C8 if it looks good because the C8 is meh in person.

the problem is I don't know/heard of ANYONE getting the C8 for that price - it seems like even when you don't price it with a TON of options but options that 'make sense' - you're still pushing over 70 if not more. I think Four Bros Speed's channel did this since one of them is trying to buy one at a 'reasonable' price and winded up at $69k; and brings up the price difference between his brother's Supra. I do get what you are saying though - I do like the C8 but it seems like most of the YT content creators are pretty high up etc.

My C8 that is on order, assuming it ever gets built with everything going on, is only 66k. It's a 1LT (which is more than enough interior for a sports car) with Z51 pkg and few minor options for color, calipers, etc. So yeah, I could see where if the Nismo Z started hitting the mid to high 50's a lot of people may just jump to the C8. A lot of people who play in the 50-60k range for a car can typically afford to go plus or minus 10k vs people who play in the 30k range of car where typically it's a 5k plus or minus. Also most, not all, but most dealers are doing MSRP on the C8. We'll see what Nissan does with the Z. If they follow what toyota it's possible the Nismo will be in the same range as the Vette if you account for ADM.

I think they need to keep the price down. Get in under the supra and under cut sales. The supra didn't do well at it's price point, should have been 10k under where it started. I loved my old 2010 NISMO Z but I managed it for 38k which I think was an appropriate price point for it. And now and days with the HP the mustang and camaro is pushing for mid to high 30's I don't think Nissan should push it's luck. Bring in a sub 40k 400hp Z and the Nismo should be closer to 45k for a base but needs to pack closer to 500hp to compete. Give me a 45k NISMO 500hp that looks decent and I'll cxl my Vette order no problem. I'd love the Z35 sitting next to my 280z and 300zx in the garage.

WOW! That is a great price and I do agree, if the Z is going to be hitting or passing the $50k mark - it needs to be checking off a lot of boxes for me. As for the Supra - do you think that $50k mark would have been justified if it wasn't a BMW with a Toyota shell? I think if it would have been a new 2jz engine along with Toyo's styling - most people would/could justify the price bc of 'nostalgia'. Regardless that's a great price for your vette - is there a priority as far as the production of the C8 - like certain packages are being pushed to the head of the line etc? Or is it just the 'luck of the draw'?
