That chrome strip is the first thing to go if they don't offer a chrome delete package. Want to see if that back ends looks like an updated 300ZX back

If that's how the new Z looks, I like it. Now if they go with auto transmission, they should use the zf tranny
I'll be in my bunk!

I don't know folks … the "most-realistic-to-production" drawings I've seen thus far look too much like my '17 with tweaks to the sheet metal.
I was really excited when I saw this version; and, I think this is what the Z needs for its next gen … ![]() Last edited by OxZed; 06-03-2020 at 09:17 PM. |

Haven’t checked the forum for awhile and this is great news! Personally I like the Autoguide render the best as it pays homage to the original 240Z the best but with a modern vibe. If it comes with a stick and drives well, 2022 may be the year to part ways with my M2.

babyzilla, My M2 has been trouble/issue free so far (knock on wood). I follow the M2 forum on Bimmerpost and it looks like the original M2's have been very dependable with only few minor issues. The M2 Competition with the S55 (M3) engine which came out at the end of 2018 has slightly more issues, which included a few engine swap outs by BMW. However I believe those issues have been worked out, as I haven't seen anything on this for awhile.
I really enjoy mine. It's faster in every aspect vs the 370, is definitely more parctical and the vision is great. A few things I miss about the Z, hydraulic steering (M2 is really precise and very good for electric). Shifter as the gates feel better defined in the Z, plus the M2's feels a little rubbery and the height, length of the clutch pedal travel. The M2's one is really long and the top stop point is about an inch and a half above the brake pedal. I've put in a BMS clutch stop to shorten it but it still comes too high. However the pedal's weighting is good, it's light and excellent for DD duties plus it's the damn easiest 6mt I've ever driven! I plan to keep it at least 5 years before making a switch. I really hope the 400Z is a winner and makes it a hard decision for me to keep the M2 any longer ![]() |

babyzilla, Getting back to you in regards to the M2Competition model (late 2018s till current) with the S55 engine. Did some searching on Bimmerpost. It's an ongoing issue, it's a crankhub problem that can ruin the engine. All M3 & M4s with this engine is susceptible. There are fixes for it and is highly recommended if you do any engine mods or tunes. If you're stock and past the 3 year warranty, better to have it fixed vs paying for a new engine. Luckily I have the original M2 engine which does not have this issue.
