Nissan now saying. No Z35 for the 50th??? Who does that with a heritage car? Oh yeah. Nissan partner Mitsubishi.

Watch Nissan come out with a rebadged eclipse crossover as a Z.
This is so disappointing. I absolutely loved my 40th Anni Z and was hoping there would be something exciting for the 50th. I picked up a Infiniti QX50 when my daughter was born in 2017 and cannot wait to get back into a sports car. Probably won't be a Nissan though.

I didn't wait. I just jumped into something and I figure I'd revisit Nissan if they got their shut together in the future. The Z was amazing. My camaro is truly next level now that it's size doesn't hinder me anymore. And I'm contemplating either going up to a ZL1 or getting a corvette grand sport? But I want to see what the supra will bring as well...

JDM is dead. They consistently have to partner up with other car companies to split the cost of building a sports car and then they either, go the cheap uninspiring route or the overpriced I can't believe it's not butter route.

A partnership would be lame for customers, but would make financial sense for Nissan. In the grand scheme of things, the Z is insignificant to their bottom line. I appreciate Nissan want to continue the Z line, but I suspect it will come at the cost of a shared platform or a different setup (electric).

At least the Heritage Edition made it to an assembly line...

Before and if the Z35 is released (big/huge IF), Nissan will push a Z34 with a VR30DTT. I know.....'cause I'm Zoltar. The business reason: SUVs and crossovers. The body style is relevant. Add on modern day tech found in their staple sedans and you have a cheap, updated, and appealing sports car. There is no business reason to introduce a new-bodied 2-door sports coupe. The numbers don't lie.

Truthfully, I'm on board with this idea. Give me a Z34 from the factory with the VR30DDTT with an updated interior (along the lines of Nissan's Platinum Reserve offerings, perhaps?) offered with a manual transmission and I'm perfectly fine with that.

To me, that sounds like a significantly less expensive proposition than building a new platform and such. That way, Z purists get something new while Nissan can offer something more competitive in whichever segment Motor Trend wants to put the Z in.

If it's even possible that it stays within the same price range the Z currently sits, it's a grand slam.

I didn't think about this part, but it's possibly more expensive to allocate resources to VQ37 production... I think the Z is the last car using it.

What other Nissan product rides on the Z platform now? I️ know it had shared with the prior gen Q50/60 but those platforms where updated right? Maybe it would be more cost effective to move the Z over to the updated platform than to keep the old one around for just one car.

It depends, they have to get rid of the parts bin before move to a new frame and form. Doesn't make sense to do so when no one is really complaining about the current form.
