[OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Nissan 400Z Z35?

I cornered the Nissan guy at the Zdayz deck party. Told him what I would like to see for the future. Like that did any good. LOL

I would love to be in the marketing for the 370. *sarcastic tone*

You better hurry and Go grab your new 370z before we keep making them for another 10 years and changing nothing on them...

I got spend a little time with the VP of marketing several of division heads for Nissan USA at ZDAYZ. As everyone knows they chase what most consumers want. They also love the Z. I would say that two guys I spent the most time with both like the 370 more than the GTR and the one guy was over the GTR program before taking his current position.

Okay with all that being said, my take on what I heard and saw and they all were very clear that they don't know anything regarding the future plans of the 370z but I did hear them say the heritage series is a parts bin car. They need to reduce the numbers of Zs and parts. No surprise there. The encouraging thing is they had on display new suspension parts band in Nismo colors and name. They have partnered with SPL to provide them with to parts under the Nissan Nismo brand. They hinted at other products will becoming in the future. So is the Z dead...I don't think so but who the hell really does!

That's cool man. Too bad that one guy didn't have more say. Obviously Nissan won't consider losing money in developing a new Z so the risk is outweighing the possible reward.

I'm willing to be if a new Z came and had the vr30dtt and looked much better than ours now most of us are jumping ship....

This isn't like the 350z to 370z which bumped displacement and shortened it.... we would be talking the one big thing everyone's wanted for well over a decade pushing 2 decades and putting a damn twin turbo from factory so we have a warranty and dont have to shell out 15k to turbo this car and have no motor warranty....

I could be totally off but I just think if they were going to kill the Z they wouldn’t have had a 2018 and 2019 model. The Evo X came out around the same as the Z and Mitsu killed it in in 2015 to make way for their Crossover and SUV lineup.

If Nissan wanted to make a shift to crossovers and leave the compact sport car segment it doesn’t make sense to keep rolling the Z’s out in my opinion.

True but this is just Nissan squeezing the lemon dry.

Fun fact the last evo X sold for like 110k!! Lol sucker paid a bit too much for that car that didn't even come with recaro seats for the last model!! Lol
Enjoy your lancer seats from an 18k vehicle

This is kinda off topic, but is in regards to the VR30DDTT engine that we hope the next Z will get. Have you guys seen the development updates? It's freaking awesome. There's no real need to get the Red Sport since the turbine sensor was initially a limiting factor preventing tuners from extracting more power, but they've remedied that. Plus, the main difference between the 300HP and 400HP trim is the additional cooling capacity and turbine sensor.

One can opt for the "simpler" 300HP model, upgrade the heat exchanger, down pipe, exhaust, and tune. The result is north of 400 hp and 450 lb-ft at the wheels. AMS upgraded the pistons, rods, and turbos, and they're able to get 800 whp. So that's great progress, which allows the platform to mature for the future Z.

I'm hoping for something sleek and fairly simple and raw like the "Pure" models for the Q and GT-R, but with a manual transmission.

Were you at ZDAYZ? You are spot on. When I was talking to a couple the Nissan folks that were there they stated the same thing. The one said to me...there really isn't much difference between this engine and the GTR as it is basically the same platform just smaller!

LOL, I talked to the head guy and ask that they use this engine platform for the new Z. I also asked that it be named a 300Z since the numbers have always matched the displacement. I did say that the Nismo version should have the Red Sport engine and that they should bring back the 2009 to 2014 rear wing. I hate the 2015 to current spoiler. The old Nismo RAY's look much better also. If they do this I will
pick up a new one and turn my current ride into a track beast.

Same here. If they did what you said I would swap mine in a heartbeat!! I even agree with the old nismo wing as well.

if you get a Q60, plus upgrades to match GT-R power, you'd be at the same cost, weight, but slower and uglier........

i'll stick with the GT-R

A lot can be said about any money we put in our cars, and you're right. The money put in the non-RS Q60 is enough to get a used GT-R. A few friends bought Corvettes since it's a performance bargain out of the box. Looks-wise, that's subjective. Power-wise, there's always going to be faster cars.

My dream car is the classic NSX. It's a timeless design with a very simple and ergonomic interior, great gearbox (MT YEA!), and engine. Power-wise, it lags behind the Civic Type-R. Cost-wise, it's ridiculous.

I've had several friends try to get me back in the car hobby and suggest I get an old car to restore. First, I live in an apartment now (sold house, 2 weeks in), and I don't have time and space for all that lol. Second, I'm not going to waste money on something I don't fully like even though what I really like is out of reach.

yea i agree and everyone has different tastes, budgets, etc...

more or less it was my personal view on it. its a Q60, plus at least 10k in upgrades, same weight, lesser awd system, etc...

now you buy a Q60 used and save 10-15k then youre ahead of the game.

there's many different ways to go about cars and mods. i was throwing my 2 cents into the mix here. also, i can finally speak from the other side and not be torched since i now have a GT-R and not the guys just saying i am buying one
