LOL, from a marketing perspective their media efforts are working because they are keeping the Z relevant and at the forefront of its enthusiast. Fake news or not we have taken the bait hook, line and sinker because we are hopeful and we don't want Nissan to follow Mazda's lead.

Yeah, but that is just it...the fact that Z is a niche car and they are talking about it is a good thing. We should be nervous if we don't hear anything.

What about Toyota killing off the Supra and Mazda killing off the RX rotary. They were all icons for those manufacturers. It didn't matter in the end. And by the way, the Mustang basically did die in the 70's and was replaced with a Pinto. Sure the name was still there but they were nowhere near to being a Mustang. If Nissan were to decide to make a new Z based on an SUV or CUV, then they would basically killing the Z.

I cant comprehend anybody not being able to tell the difference between the two. Ones sexy the other is dated.

Random thought: All the Z's have been so iconic looking... but the 350 doesn't give me the iconic feeling. I feel it's like the c4 Corvette

I think that is based on pragmatism not hope, and probably the most realistic interpretation of things to come in this thread. They've spent the development dollars on the Q60 at this point retooling for the new Z, while likely already part of that planning process all along, becomes a much more viable and cost-effective venture for them.

Unless they drop the Z in favor of the Infiniti all together, but that is a completely different market segment so I don't see how that would make sense.

If there is anything I'm looking forward to is the new engine refresh. Although, one thing I still can't stand with both the 350 and 370 along with the Qs are the weight. Hotrodz and I talked about it last Saturday. They need to make this car lighter.

Agreed...the is the same weight, or close enough as Vett without the power! My car with a full tank of gas and me in it are 3450 lbs. Not bad if you got 500 to 600whp but it's on the piggish side with less than 300whp. It would great if the car had close to the same hp ratings as the camero ss or the Mustang gt....I know it's a pipe dream isn't that what this thread is about lol!

Yes, the new Z needs one hell of an engine that can compete with the majority of cars on sale today. We'll have to see what Nissan actually does this time.

It is. That said I'm a big fan of the VQ and would rather see them adding a factory tt option to it instead of reinventing the wheel err engine.

It's all a matter of personal taste to be respected.

I prefer a 350Z/G35 body with 370Z/G37 interior and drive train.

Hiatus and kill off are different. Z has seen a hiatus, never killed off. Supra has seen hiatus, NSX has..etc. Maybe the Z35 needs some time to percolate, like the z33 did? Way too much history for it to be killed off forever IMO.
