My question is a bit theoretical and probably highly arguable, but.

Is it possible Nissan is trying to kill off the Z? Several factors come into play that lead to this question other than the fact the Z34 is almost 10 years old.

1- The father of Datsun died in 2015 and since then all concepts, major talks of releasing a new Z has died around the same time. It was widely speculated and spoken about that Nissan never wanted Datsun or the Z to survive and have attempted several times to kill it off.
2 - Regarding the first, this was around the same time Nissan North America stopped all backing of racing programs and aftermarket support for the Z.
3 - Nissan/Infiniti brokered a new deal with Mercedes and Renault to start a completely different car line up revolved around economy transportation and E/V technology.
4 - The car is coming along 10 years old and Nissan has cancelled its concept release 3 years in a row since 2014 when it first stated they were working on one and would release a concept at the 2015 Tokyo autoshow. Instead they brought a concept CUV car (which i may add is cool, but not the Z that was promised).
5- Nissan has invested significant time in creating the next generation R36 GT-R where as this was the Fairlady's only design rival in the Nissan/Infiniti branch.
6 - Lastly, The new generation Infiniti Q60 was finished and released by 2016, around the same time the Z was announced to be in development. Where as the G37 before was released and designed around the same time the Z34 and R35 was designed and released. This to me means Nissan has no intentions of sharing the same platform or even assembly process with any other sports car like previous generations.

All this leads back to argument number 1.

I don't know how many times I have to post that Nissan officially stated the 2019 Z35 would be debuted at the Auto show this fall....

Do you know how many times Nissan has officially stated conflicting information with that after that "official" statement?

Very true. Nissan needs to wake up and treat loyal fans with more respect. How hard would it be to drop a solid hint of what's to come like every other manufacturer. That Supra is starting to look better and better......

They officially said that back in 2014 and 2015 too...

370z vs competition: I just read an article on carscoops.Com highlighting the next Supra. According to the article, the supra will sport both a 4 banger and a 6 making ~ 335 hp. No stick will be offered.
Odd they aren't stepping up theIr game at least on the power front. Makes the 9 year old 370z seem surprisingly competitive (still).

They'll both be F/I and the 6cylinder will be a ECU modification away from making 400whp+/400tq+ probably.

Today, Motorauthority,Com is claiming the new Supra will have a manual and a turbo v6 pushing out ~ 400 hp. Nice. Hope Nissan feels compelled to beat the competition with the next Z.

Nissan will be carrying out production of the 370z into 2018. So we for sure won't see a Z35 by 2019. Concept? hmmm

There has been no word from Nissan testing either the I4T or 3.0L V6 Turbo on any new short frame chassis.

Spy pics of the 2019 Altima are out and it's running around disguised but clearly close to production levels even though it won't hit until late 2018. As I recall before the 370 broke cover, there were leaks of the head lights and tail lights from a supplier and Nissan showed a brief glimpse at some company presentation well before launch. I'm a bit concerned there has been zero confirmed info, leaks or prototypes spotted. Could be Nissan is doing a great job keeping things quiet.......or not. Really wish Nissan would throw us just a small something.
