The 370Z Is 'Not a Priority' for Nissan
France & England will stop sales of all gas, diesel powered cars & trucks by 2040. Norway by 2025 and India by 2030. Volvo to discontinue gas only powered vehicles from it's line up. BMW spending the bulk of it's R&D monies on electric or hybrid models.

The writing is on the wall. Car companies are not going to start a car from scratch, that utilizes a gas engine only. Nissan has already undergone hybrid r&d for the GTR. As Christian Meunier stated, the GTR is their halo car and that will continue. "The 370Z is not a priority for us" but added "he/we would like to make a successor to the 370Z."

I take that to mean, no new model Z in the near future. But I keep hope that it's possible to get a hybrid Z in the distant future, as Nissan can use the info learned from the GTR hybrid to incorporate into the next Z.

That's why it shared a platform and engine with the G, to save costs. I'm hoping they will do tbe same and give us another Z with tje new tt engine since I hear it has hreat tuning potential. If they do it, it's because the Z is a Nissan brand heritage car.

That was actually my prediction about 100+ pages back and I hope they still do it. Yes I agree, a 400 hp tt Z, not too much heavier then now, with good weight distribution would be a killer! However recently checking the slow sales of Vettes, 86's & Caymans. I feel the 2 seat sports car is not the market it once was and the manufacturers know it.

Well if true sports car sales are declining, perhaps nissan should reposition the Z to compete more with the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger (sales seem to be solid with that trio). I'm not suggesting making the Z a muscle car, but maybe a few tweets here and there might steal sales from the 3 mentioned in an effort to keep the Z alive.
I doubt they will... maybe... who knows?
OK, back to giving my cat a bath.

A 4-seater 2-door coupe version would be interesting. It could be a de-luxury'ed Q60. I'd be down for that. I don't need luxe. I just want modernly comfortable with sporty handling and that tt VR engine and a few hundred lbs lighter than the Q. I'll take it in either 2 or 4 seater format a long as it's a coupe. If the Q60 dropped 300 lbs, I would be in on that now probably.

Exactly why I got the M2. Sports car handling, 7 inches shorter then the Q60, only 100 lbs heavier then the Z, 370 hp & tq. The M2 is selling at MSRP or a little higher, wait list of still 6 months to a year and it's going on to it's 3rd model year. So there is a very good market for this type of car.

With Nissan's new tt engines, they could definitely compete here. Take out some of the luxe and make it pricey options, as the M2 has a lot. If Nissan made it a real Nismo drivers car and priced it in the high 30's for base (no frills) and mid 40's top end. I'd have gotten that instead of the M2.

Hey - at least the 370Z got this heritage edition... which makes it the only car I can remember going through two decades of anniversary editions without a significant refresh.

Nissan be like GET ON OUR LEVEL.

Nissan has become GM of the late 90s/early 2000s that rode the Camaro into the ground while feverishly stamping out as many Tahoes as possible. Trade the Camaro for the Z and the Tahoe for literally any crossover Nissan can dream up and it's the same mantra and drove GM (once the world's largest carmaker... sound familiar?) into the bailouts of 2008.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ghosn drive a Pathfinder up to capitol hill to beg for money after trading imagination for profits only to be turned away and have the CVT to pop on the way out of the parking lot.

The 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX (Z31) and 300ZX (Z32) all had 2+2 versions.

I test drove a mazda miata rf (with the retractable steel roof) before buying the 2016 nismo and I really liked that car, it was just way too small of an interior for me. I'd Love to see the next incarnation of the Z have a similar retractable steel roof configuration. I prefer that to the steel convertibles on the bmw's and the benz. I know it would decrease the available space in the back storage area but maybe Nissan could create a few more hidden storage section behind the driver's seat

If Nissan is looking to appeal to a wider distribution of buyers, I think a 2+2 option for the Z might be a decent compromise. Better than no Z!

If they do that? The skyline (Q60) is good enough. Nissan is a bunch o bitches. So many cars selling 6,000 units a year and getting redesigned thoroughly. ie. Lexus GS

Wrong. The 2+2 Z of any model is an abomination.

Totally agree. I have owned one, 1983 280zx Black and silver 2 tone automatic. The only auto I have ever owned.
