I dunno about all that -- what do they mean by "new".

New platform (as promised/threatened) -- almost definitely not. A Z based on the current Q? I don't see why not. How different is the chassis? It's got the same 7AT right?

Different body panels, tighter suspension, etc. and you've got a "new" Z.

Could be worse. Beats that weird crossover thing or the idx.

I know no one here cross shopping Camaros or Mustangs wants to think about this, but despite the flagging sales for the FT-86, there a few new smaller sports cars out now: The new MX-5 RT is pretty sweet (but will need boost) as is the new sporty Fiat spider (very hot car -- just saw one the other day).

Sports cars will be available for sale -- the amount of muscle may require a lot of aftermarket tho, unless you want to go 'Merican.

I drove a new Mustang -- I liked my Z better -- but its a good car. I'm sure the latest Camaro is good too -- I still just don't really trust their reliability... but, they are definitely getting and looking better than their predecessors.

That said, if no new Z ever emerges (or the one that does is a disappointment), I am much more likely to buy (and boost) a new MX-5 than get an American Muscle car as my next purchase.

Historically, Nissan doesn't hype the Z

It just comes out one year after sketches. The sketches are there. It's been 2 months

We just got the Q series, the Z tends to follow that line up. Just because they aren't openly advertising anything or even discussing it. They don't have to until they want to.

True. But the Z34 was revealed in Nov 2008, and released Feb 2009. So they let you know 4 - 6 months in advance. That's just my train of thought.

All I know is.... if Nissan don't show and prove? I'm buying Murican

Thats what i was trying to say! Concepts are just that. They are these nice ideas but actually making an affordable production car that good is hard. Like i said before, I'm just going to build my 370 nice and slow. I think 3100lbs with full human comfort and close to 400bhp would be way more car then i could ever ask for. Sure ill never beat a corvette or be as light as a brz but thats an awesome middle ground in my opinion! Long live the 370z!!!

same. for me i just duno what to do with 400bhp. so it is a great pption to have diff engines available. but for now my 370z is already plenty good. :)

i like jow the new q has option for a turbo four banger. it will work well where i live. i feel like i dun even get to use half of my 3.7 right now. lol

I know you were hoping/predicting one that would be several hundred lbs lighter (which would be awesome!), but I think them continuing to bring out a slightly "leaner/meaner" Q and badging it as a Z is looking much more likely.

If the new Z is around 3500 lbs and 400 bhp, that sounds fine by me.

The current Z at its most bloated is like right around that, but with 80 less at the crank than what would (presumably) be an option for the new one. I really don't think it will suck if they keep the price/weight difference ratio between the next Z and the red sport RWD 3.0 Q60 as they had between the previous model Z and G.

Simply rebadging a Q to a Z will not cut it. Z's have always had their own specific style and performance level. I for one would never consider another Z if this was the case.

MagmaRed370z 09-12-2016 09:39 AM

As we know, in the past with the G and Z, the Z is always lighter, faster, than the G. Hopefully this will be the case with the new Z35.

Whats the weight on a Z34TT with a full interior?

Same chassis, different body panels, better suspension, different tune...

Same Chassis is fine but the rest is what makes a Z a Z and separate from the BIGboy luxury G or Q. I may :stirthepot: a little by saying this but the G or Q has always been made to have slightly more room in the interior to fit the Merican Arse.

All I'm saying is: If there is a new Infiniti sport coupe on the market (there is) that is typically rolled out a year before the Z, which is also effectively the "sister" car for the Z, then it is very likely there will be a new Z that will have all the power + better handling etc. as that particular Infiniti coupe.

In short: It's a-comin' :driving:
