I hope Nissan can come to there senses and become competitive for us Nissan Z enthusiast so we can have an answer for the mustangs and chargers of the world. Nissan has to make a statement and drops a lighter 3.0 twin turbo 580hp rear wheel drive monster to keep up with today's sports cars. A twin turbo 580 HP rear wheel drive Z has a nice ring to it doesn't it.
First ever post was this?

I thought asking for "Space Thrusters" was unrealistic.....

I am just going to act like that post never happened because it is too ridiculous to acknowledge.

The new Juke is being built on the new CMF-B chassis. If that is too technical for some of you. It's the GRIP Z chassis.
That is also the same chassis I posted on about a week ago when I stated that Nissan was going to use a MODULAR CHASSIS, capable of multi drivetrain usage for a range of vehicles. My guess the Grip Z looked as it did was because it was showing the marriage between the Z and Juke in the next generation. Which only makes sense considering this generation they went all out on Juke Nismo's. They are getting more performance oriented. This gen I'm expecting big things for the Juke.

Now being that the chassis is modular I'm 99.9% right that this chassis will be shared with the Z.

By the way. A grip z, 1.6 turbo engine, fully equipped, 5 passengers, all wheel drive and automatic transmission is 2,550lbs.

So 3,300 lb Z is NOT HAPPENING. it will lose between 200-300lbs easy. I expect a production Juke to be 100lbs lighter than the outgoing model in full production guise. So about 2,700lbs. I expect a 4 cylinder RWD Z to weigh the same as an AWD juke. Only because the chassis will be much more rigid.

Also remember the weight of AWD, That's the offset in the situation. So it makes it more than possible.

Classier, smarter new Nissan Juke coming in 2017 | Auto Express

Oh and the Z has carbon fiber now!!!! What makes u think we gonna go backwards? I expect more carbon fiber. I know we'll continue to use a carbon fiber drive shaft and radiator housing for sure. We aren't losing that. I think your speculation is pretty empty.
I like where your head is at! I feel like you and I are the only ones believing the new Z will in fact be lighter than the current 370z model...
My original guess was like 2900-3000 pounds for the V6TT. The Z also currently uses aluminum which is light and cheap. And yes the carbon fiber drive shaft has been on the Z since 2003 models.
I see a carbon fiber add on pack like the. RCF offers.

Yes cause the Corolla and Civic have massive power.... the new civic Type R coming out soonwill only have 300hp and be a 4 cyl turbo... if the new Z throws a 300hp variant with similar pricing than any true car guy would choose the Z. Front wheel drive sucks, typically have understeer and fight the steering wheel off a launch... not to mention 100s of other reasons FWD is inferior to RWD or AWD.

The closest FWD cars to being a great track car were the Type R integra and Celica GTS(yes I've driven both) but they were both still short of hitting that mark.

I know this isn't happening, but I wish they would offer a dct option. I hope they update the AT at least.

The 400HP version will be between camaro SS N corvette money corvette start around $47,000 baseto $59,000 for the Nismo version. N 450hpIf you want the cheap Z it will be the 250HP 4banger. N remember there's that 300HP tune which I think will be the touring. But I'm sure even 4banger will outperform our current cars being 500-600lbs lighter.

Hopefully the entry-level Z beats the 340HP Honda Civic Type R. That type R will - on paper anyway - develop more HP than current Z's non-nismo models! But holy sheets, it'll have more torque steer than a pneumatic drill.

At least the Z will be RWD. We hope.

This modular chassis gives me hope for weight reduction though I hope it doesn't have any less cargo space than we have now. My current work equipment pelican case just fits in our hatch.any smaller and I won't have the option of driving it to work some days.

FWD sucks, my daily driver is a350hp sonata turbo and even with coilovers, strut bar, wider tires itstill handles horribly. It's a great daily but for that civic cultthat will buy that type R will spend way toomuch for a front wheel car that's meant to bebe all track business but can't do what other cars they will compare it to.

The 370z now is still a better car than the civic type R will be. Fwd was meant for cars to bebetter in snow than rear wheel not for atrack car.

Modular chassis,v6 tt engine with DI. Nissan is starting to make me hopeful. Don't let me down Nissan. Slightly lighter (if it's sharing the q60 chassis) but with the 400hp tt engine and less NVH and still looking sexy OR 3100 lbs (with smaller modular chassis), 400hp tt engine, less NVH and still looking sexy. Either for 45k, make it so and I will buy it. Don't make me buy a used q60 coupe in a few years (unless that disappoints by being a bloated soft completely GT car).

I dont know a ton about the history of Nissan but hasnt weight taken the back seat to technology (heavy gtr for example) for the past few decades? When have they ever been the leaders of light weight? I dont know of any nissan to be pushing any boundaries on light since the 240z. 2700 250hp seems like an industry leading numbers By far!

I dont know! I dont want youz guuz to get to disappointed making up amazing numbers. Just saying!?!?!

Leno's garage. They stated they were looking to bring back the legendary 240 performance. That would have to come from the turbo 4. Period.

N u guys crack me up with this disappointment shyt.

NISSAN HAS A 2500LB AUTO AWD LOADED CROSSOVER.

The current Juke is 2866lbs in AWD. The numbers already exist in Nissan with the Juke.
Like you guys are so ONE TRACK. Looking in the current Z' instead of looking at what's being done.

If the Z isn't what it's supposed to be? I buy something else. But I'm sure the Z will be in this range.

Leno's garage they stated they want the original 240z trunk which as about 12 cubic feet.

Unknown, I agree with most of what you've said here. However, my 2014 Juke nismo AWD curb weight is actually around 3200 pounds. The FWD version is obviously around 300-400lbs lighter.

Lol, good catch! I was taking his word for it and thinking **** the STI, I want a juke! First time in my life i wanted a juke. Well that gtr juke .... Never mind. That number looks better... So an AWD juke minus a couple hundred pounds for this new chassis. Turned to a z. Reinforced, big boy break kit, bigger engine, z turbos, is i the juke wishboned?, aero goodies?, yeah i still cant see the <3000 lbs on a tt z.

Also since the 350z they have been talking about bringing the z back to the 240z roots. Ill believe it when i see it!
