And the AKEBONO brakes. But the Z should have better pads...

Not a bad review -- thanks for sharing.

I'm cool with losing the steering column so long as they get it dialed in right.

It will probably be a tunable feature too, so you can get the inputs exactly as you want -- that's potentially pretty slick, actually.

Otherwise, based on the specs, I would expect the Z35 to weigh about as much as the Z34.

As to cost, whatever the difference is in cost between a G/Q and Z now is probably going to stay about the same.

As a point of reference: 2015 Q50 starting pricce = $37,150; 2015 370Z starting price = $29,990.

So, I think a Z is roughly 20% cheaper? If so, expect a similarly equipped Z35 to go for just under 40K.

I'm in, and if it sucks I'll buy that little Miata fastback and put a big blower on it

On the weight topic I'm curious because they listed this as a 13.0 1/4 mile at almost 3900lbs with an open diff. Imagine a 3300 lb car with a lsd and that engine. Could be something mean like a 12.7 or less stock 1/4 time

I think, again, you will probably find a proportionate difference in performance and weight between current Q/G and Z to be on par.

Point of reference:
2015 Q50 Curb weight = 3,574 lbs to 3,849 lbs
2015 370 Z Curb weight = 3,278 lbs to 3,510 lbs

So, we're in the same ball park, I think, on price, weight, and performance differences.

But, yeah, even with the viscous LSD, it would haul ass from a dead stop.

More importantly, twin turbos means lots of power potential with tuning

I agree. Free up the exhaust and better intakes could net big gains on a boosted setup. Look at the gtr for example. I takes, exhaust, and tune nets 80-100whp typically.

Same thing on a Z could be nice.

What Nissan will do (if they do anything) is slap the 300hp version of the engine in there and save the 400hp for a NISMO edition (if they even do that).

As a Q50 owner, I'm perplexed as to why the Red Sport, a model that is supposed to be the BMW M-Sport of the lineup, comes with **** tires and an open diff. That is some weak *** ****.

On top of that, the Q50 uses an R190 diff, and I have no idea who even makes an LSD for that, considering Nissan has used the R200 for the last 20 years worth of RWD sedans and coupes.

Datsun/Nissan has been using he R200 since 1975, maybe earlier.

Yeah but that's the sedan. Before you start comparing that you gotta look at the coupe which is about 100-150lbs lighter.
Then subtract about 300-400lbs when comparing to a Z.
Anything over 3,650 is the AWD And doesn't pertain to us either

I dunno about that. There's rumor of an ipl version to arise with 450hp? It's all rumor now but??? You never know. That could be the $60k Z?

Yes. back a bit when news on the engine was being released they mentioned that an ipl version with more hp was possible. I can't remember if it was said that its was 450 or our speculation but that would seem to be on point with a bit of a tuned version.

Why? It will be easy to modify the 300HP to more than the 400HP, and probably for less money.

Not on a turbo motor. Most factory FI motors make a lot of power with basic bolt ons and a tune.
