Airbag/high flow cats canceling warranty
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I recently put high flow cats on my car about a month or so ago. I have been having two codes constantly popping up and this is triggering my service engine soon light. Recently my passenger airbag light won't go off. When I have someone sitting in the seat it is off, but when the seat is open and no one is sitting there it is on. I was going to take this into the dealer, but I am worried that they will cancel my warranty due to the high flow cats. What should I do?
Thanks for the help in advance |

Second code

I believe the airbag light is normal it’s a safety feature. The engine light is due to the no cats. Need a tune.

When I have my girlfriend she is 100 pounds it is off. When my friend who is 200 pounds sits it is off as well. Even on the interstate it is always off. The light is always lit

You do not understand how warranties work. Your warranty cannot be cancelled. A claim may be denied if the modification you performed is the cause of the failure. If you modify the engine and it pops, they may deny the warranty claim. If you modify the engine and the airbags fail, they cannot deny the claim. Your airbags have nothing to do with your cats.

Could they write down the code for future reference if something with my engine goes wrong? I tried to get them reset but autozone says that they are permanent codes.

The airbag light has nothing to do with the cats, so I would look into that at the dealer. No aftermarket seats or steering wheel?
As to the HFC's, you can either try additional de-foulers to further extend the bung where the secondary O2's are located and/or stuff some steel wool in the bung to further slow down the gasses and see if that works (they are set off when the change in voltage between primary and secondary occur too close in time, indicating no cat is present), otherwise you will need a tune. The dealership shouldn't care about the code for the cats, but the airbag light one should definitely be taken care of, provided, of course, you are still within warranty. |
Thanks guys and MJB I am talking about the light to the right of the shifted. Next to our radio.also I plan to get an ultra tune in the future but I want to finish getting all my mods first. I just ordered O2 extenders from eBay with a 90 degree angle.

I appreciate it MJB. I'm taking her in tomorrow I guess it is!

As per Chuck33079, you may have voided the warranty on the exhaust but that has nothing to do with the airbags (unless you somehow messed up the seat wiring - see MJB's comment about seat sensor - when installing the HFCs).
I'd try unplugging the connector under the seat, blow it out with some dry compressed air, then plug it back in. You may need to disconnect the battery to keep from tripping another error. It's an easy job and a LOT cheaper than buying a new seat. Worth a try. |
The people that installed my amp put it under my passenger seat. I hope they didn't destroy it. Thanks southark

If it's just a poor connection, it probably hasn't ruined anything. IIRC, the system will not auto-reset and there is a convoluted procedure to get the light to go out. Procedure should be in FSM.

Thank you
