BCM issues post steering lock failure

hey guys,

A couple of weeks ago my car wouldn't start and I thought it must have had the steering lock failure, I put it on a tow truck and took it a garage. They took a part the drivers side of the dashboard and removed the steering lock. it was in an unlocked position, so they just put it back and wouldn't you know it the car started just fine.

however right after it was put back the car would only start if I put the key fob in the slot. Other wise the car will not turn on at all. However key-less entry works fine. Also when I have the key in the slot I get the warning light on the dash "press brake and push start button". The warning never goes away, not even when im driving and also stays on even when I turn the car off.

I took it to a different garage and they said the bcm IC needs to be repaired and reprogrammed.

Any Idea what the problem might be? I cant take it to the dealer as my car is a grey market import so they'll charge me an arm and a leg!

Thanks!

That may be (part of) the problem - the ESCL can be R&Red without removing any dash panels. My guess is that they knocked a connector loose. Find a shop that knows what they are doing.
