they all start with a simple price, then find other 'issues' with the car and the price goes up..so you should just take the car in if you're not going to be doing the work yourself.

Go to dealer and have them turn it off. Problem solved. They just might show you the sequence on turning the light off

Dear god. I'd go file rape charges. That should be no more than an hour labor and cost of fluids. Definitely DIY next time, and find a new dealer.

^^^$380 doesn't sound so bad...I mean it's much easier to just have it done and pay that, especially w/out proper tools and experience.

It's awful. A good dealer would have charged an hour of labor and fluids. That would be $150 or so. Almost $400 is terrible.

Fluids from the shop: $50-75 for trans and diff fluids (I pay ~$60 for Redline fluids).
Hour of labor: $60-100 (they're paying a guy $10/hr to work on it and it takes him 30 min - nice profit margin).

I agree with Chuck. Nearing $400 is highway robbery

Nissan actually doesn't even give recommended flush intervals for diff and transmission (6MT only). The FSM just says to inspect the fluids every 15K miles. I replace them at ~15K miles because it's easy and not expensive to DIY.

Also, I've never heard of a light coming on for maintenance reminders unless you set the reminders in the dot display on the left.
