Clutch goes, embarrassing and painful..

Driving my 2013 370z with 10k miles and in heavy city traffic, all of a sudden, the clutch pedal does not come back up and I could not shift, stuck in Neutral. It started a couple of minutes earlier and shifting became difficult as I tried to pull back the clutch and push hard and could do it a couple of times and then, on a crowded street, waiting fot the light to change, I could not shift. Had to wave at angry folks behind me to go around me.

A jogger and I pushed the car to the curb. I called triple A and after an hours wait, a tow truck picked my car and me, drove 115 miles back and we dropped the car outside a closed Nissan dealership near my home.

Tomorrow morning I will go to the service department and have them check it out. Hope it is in warranty or the costs are reasonable.

Comments, suggestions on what could have gone wrong. I bought the car with 8.6 k miles with clear car fax, it's a sports package and had been running beautifully till this. How could the clutch go so fast?

Dead CSC. Happens to pretty much everyone.

What is CSC? Is it covered by warranty? Is it expensive to repair? Should I do it at the dealer or elsewhere? How long do repairs take? Will they need to order parts and I would be without my car for some time?

Help. Thanks

Search. There's a million threads on this. There's a sticky on it as well.

Yay for AAA! Worth every dollar and there aren't that many dollars involved!

Even the new model have the problem? This is the only car I know with this weird clutch engagement, and I try my hardest not to push the pedal to the floor.

Pushing the pedal to the floor isn't the reason for the Csc to fail.

It's probably the clutch fluid. Try GTR fluid..

The GTR fluid is a bad bandaid for the real problem. It will, at best, prolong the life of the OEM CSC. It's a bad design and will eventually need replacement.

Zeebar, sorry to hear about this issue. We had three CSCs fail on our car in less than 27k which is one of the main reasons we came out with the product Trips listed.

ZeeBabar 09-08-2014 11:12 AM

The dealer just called to say that the CSC was leaking, that they ordered another one , should be in tomorrow and they will then put it in.

At this time, since the warranty covers it, I am having the dealer replace it. I have 10.5k miles on the car. If and when it breaks again, I will have to go with the ZSports one recommended here.
