Passenger Air Bag Light

Maybe i'm not processing the information right, but when no one is sitting in the passenger seat the light is off. However at times when someone is sitting, it turns on and sometimes it's off. Not sure why it is doing that or if it's how someone sits? Anyone have this happen to them?

Yes. On my previous 2011. Sometimes it was on, sometimes it was off. My wife obsessed over it. Sometimes, randomly, it would randomly come back on for a minute or two then go off. I assume it's either a seat sensor problem, or just a screwy light. Never did get around to asking the dealer.

On my current 2014, the light will stay on for a few minutes when first get in the car, then ultimately go off. This one doesn't keep turning on and off randomly. You should probably take it to the dealer and get it checked out.

There is a reset procedure. It didn't help in my case. It's detailed in the owner's manual.

i'll have to try and stop by the dealership tomorrow and let them figure it out... i bought it about 2 months ago. it's just weird looking at it...

The wife and I noticed that mine also does this every once in a while. My first thought was the censor in the seat. I haven't taken mine into the dealership about it yet either....

When this happened to me it was covered undrr the extended warranty. In my case exact symptom dealer replaced DRIVER air bag mount/shaft, ill see if i can find the repair order.
Actually i forgot red airbag showing in dash also. It was enough i was glad had the extended warranty.

I'm getting the same thing in mine, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It also seems like a strange way to do the light IMO, light is on when the bag is off. I keep precious cargo in the passenger seat so I'm looking to go back to the dealer soon. Luckily I bought the "extended warranty" 5 years or 60k from date of purchase, covers everything but glass plastic rubber and cloth. Anyone resolve this issue yet???

same problem with my nismo. its been like that from day 1. im taking it to nissan today for that and for my clutch, it just dropped to the floor and stayed there. had to drive her home clutchless by finding the sweet spot inbetween shifts.

It may be that your passengers are light enough that the seat sensor doesn't always register that they are full-sized adults. Have someone that weighs 150+ pounds sit in the seat and see what happens. If operation is still erratic, have the system checked by a dealer.

i went for an oil change on friday and they said the seat has 4 sensors. so if the person is sitting a little weird, like slanting to one side or something it the light will come on because it gets a negative reading. so i guess they have to sit straight and not lean against either side
