dealer/nissan corp denying to fix my car
hey guys long time member here but been awol for a long time(wonder how many ppl still remember lol)
i own a 2009 370z which i finally paid this past january with my luck in the past 8 months or so ive been having problems with it first issue i had was the engine would have a loud grinding sound under acceleration and eventually engine died but not after bringing in to DEALER A from what i know short block was replaced and everything was fine and dandy but after 5 months or so CEL came on and brought it in to DEALER B since DEALER A close down per DEALER B i had misfire on the engine and they "fixed" it but not even a month CEL came on again. brought it in on march 4. waited for dealer to call me first week i couldnt get a direct answer from service adviser other than they are still checking the car...waited another week and spoke to a service technician and informed me that they need the stock intake since i have a stillen intake installed in order for them to run test per nissan corp. told them dont have it and they will get back to me after they relay the message to corp. a week past spoke to another service adviser and told me the same notes they have that they need the stock intake. told them i already informed them i dont have them...few days pass and the original adviser called me telling me the same thing and of course i told him i dont have it and he said he will talk to his service manager and see what info they have from nissan corp and theyll get back at me. at this point i decided to call nissan corp and open a claim. this past friday nissan corp told me that they are waiting for a repair history to be sent to them and they will call me with updates on wed(apr 2). today i got a call from dealers service manager and told me that they have been telling me that they have been asking for the stock intake and i told him from the getgo i dont have them. he said nissan corp told them they need it to run test and couldnt perform the repairs until they have the stock box. he said he already sent the repair history to nissan corp. and they cannot do anything further until corp tells them what to do. called corp again tonite to leave a message on what the dealer is informing me...at this point what can i do or do i even have a claim for a lemon law? what makes it worst the dealer waited all this time to inform me and as of today my warranty expires.... any insights is greatly appreciated! sorry for the long story im just worried my car wont get fix even tho i brought it way before the warrant expires

Before everyone suggests contacting me anyways...
Um... You should get a stock intake... You've got some balls to open a case with Nissan when the dealer is doing you a favor by saying you need the intake boxes. Warranty being up is something you should know about, sorry, no way to sugar coat it. What you need to do, open a WTB thread saying you need stock intakes. And your warranty on the short block that was replaced carries a new 12/12 warranty. Once you get the stock boxes you can plead with corporate, but you shot yourself in the foot, you're at their mercy. Once you get it and swap it. Contact me

HEY TRIPS!!!
i have the stock intake somewhere in my storage i just cant justify looking for it if the intakes has nothing to do with the problem that they initially "fix" they were totally fine fixing it the first time without the stock intakes on top of that installing the the stillen intakes required some modification and putting back the stock box might not work out in the first place which btw was reinstalled by fontana nissan i dropped of the car march 4 i have informed the dealer march 7 that i do not have the intakes... this whole time they kept giving me the run around that they are "looking into the problem and also kept saying they are waiting for nissan corp to reply they took a whole month just to tell me they havent done anything to the car and thats the reason why i had the balls to opened a claimed with corp...the car was under warranty and they are denying to fix it because they need a part just to run "tests" in which what i have installed is perfectly fine and has been on the car since i purchased it back in 2009

You are experiencing a misfire CEL from an aftermarket intake- this is an issue that is widespread and very, very common.
In this case, IMO, Nissan is in the right. You need to get a stock airbox. Chances are, when you change out the airbox, the CEL is going to stop tripping. Your dealer is being much more helpful than any I've encountered when it comes to helping you with this CEL. By all means, they have the option to just deny service to you completely, but they're not doing that. Follow what other posters have said and grab a stock airbox. Thank the dealer for their help tracking the issue down and bring in some pizza for them. |

P0300?
And I agree with everyone telling you to put the stock intake back on and thank your lucky stars they're still willing to work with you.

There's no way to answer that question without knowing what code it's throwing. It could have nothing to do with the intake and it's completely coincidental but they don't want to work on a modded car. I've seen too many dealers just tell people with modded cars to get lost, so the fact they're willing to let you put the OEM parts back on is them doing you a favor even though it doesn't seem like it.
P0300 is kind of the ECU's "I don't know what the **** is going on, but I don't like it" code. Technically it's for "random misfire", but it seems to be the go-to for mysterious issues.

I've got 3 sets of OE intakes if you want to borrow one from me. I'm in Irvine, and the intakes are in Costa Mesa.
PM me if you want to get in touch. Dave |

just got back from the dealer very annoyed and frustrated...finally got to talk to the service manager in person. they actually informed me just today that they have closed the work order on my car as of last week. told them they are still paying for the rental. he had the nerve to tell me that they can only cover 3 days out of the 30 days i had the rental. i was wtf??? hells no! when i got there showed him ppwk that the service advisor gave me and it showed they would cover the rental at $35 a day....in the end they will not move forward with the repairs until i get the stock intake. he said at this point if i do bring it back with the stock intake it will be a new work order.
cant really do anything so i ended up just taking my car back. ask him what code was showing and sure enough he said p0300 as chuck mentioned funny thing is seems like they reseted the cel and so far it has not come back on... ill wait for nissanusa reply in regards to my claim but at this point i think ill just live with the cel if it comes back, so far the car is running fine but any advice on the p0300 code? dave thanks for the offer man ill keep in touch if i decide to bring it back coz i searched everywhere and i really cant find my stock intake

Clear the code and move on with life? How often does it pop up? If something is wrong with the car, there's usually more codes than that.

What am I missing here? Several people are practically throwing stock intakes your way and you're too lazy to take the 30 minutes to install them to let a dealer bend over backwards for you to fix your car? So are we to feel sorry for you if the next thread you start goes along the lines of "help, I'm stranded on the side of the road please feel sorry for me"?

I guess, If they told me to get the Stock intakes I would have just got them. Point being in that is they can flag your car now as modified and anything else goes wrong your screwed, They'll just say you modded the car beyond stock and no warrenty. :/

FWIW I had a recurring CEL as well (0300 IICR) and it turned out after 3 trips to the dealership that I had a hairline crack on one of my catalytic converters. This as after they replaced an o2 sensor and something else in attempt to fix the problem prior.
