hit a huge bump and exhaust is LOUD...

Hey guys, going to get the car checked out in a few days but need an idea of what I may be dealing with. About a month ago I was driving around a community that was undergoing heavy construction and had no street lights. As I was turning the corner there was a massive bump on the road which I ran over and in turn, my car landed VERY hard on it after driving over it. I thought to myself ...wow I just F'ed up my exhaust and undercarriage. However, for about a month after that happening, there were no issues.

Now yesterday out of nowhere, my exhaust started making a loud noise on the highway and I could hear a slight rattle under acceleration..kinda sounded like I had an aftermarket exhaust. This morning, exhaust was LOUD. I’m thinking exhaust leak, bent exhaust…but I’m just not sure how bad it could be. Hopefully a few bolts that loosened up or came off..? What’s confusing me is why is my exhaust acting up a month after I hit the bump? what can I expect? Thanks ya’ll.

Get the car up on ramps/jackstands and take a look? Is it a stock exhaust?

stock exhaust.

You're just going to have to get under it and look. We can throw ideas out all day, but in five seconds under the car you'll know for sure.

Should have checked a month ago! Broken/crack at the connection/bolted area or maybe blew a gasket at a connection?

yeah i should have checked earlier but there were no issues so I thought maybe I got lucky..lol. if it's something of this nature...is it a simple fix where they can just weld it together? or something more than that?

It all depends on what happened to the exhaust. Maybe.

Yeah 5 minutes on a lift should tell the story. My guess is that it's a cracked weld on the exhaust somewhere it may have finally expanded and contracted enough to split, especially with the colder weather we've had. We've seen this on Subies when kids take them "rallying" not realizing they aren't rally cars!
