it still might carry a little weight in the eyes of the service advisor

Just made my daily call to the rep assigned to my file at Nissan NA...still goes directly to voice mail (I have called every day since last Friday) with no response. I will be calling the main line to ask for a new rep tomorrow. The disregard by Nissan is appaling. Once they get your $$ it appears they really could care less. Sad !!

Still haven't heard anything from Nissan NA...just sad...but I do think I found an Eagle in a Service Mgr...I've talked to the turkeys, I was looking for an Eagle. I took the pics of the longer lift spring and invoice to the serv mgr where I bought my Z (they would only apply lithium greae in the past). He took it directly to the parts dept and said "order these". The parts guy, I've had nothing but major attitude from this guy, said "the part number in the pic comparing the two springs is no longer applicable and the part # listed on the invoice is not for this car". The serv mgr said "I don't care, order them. I'll figure out how to get them paid for". Now, I like that attitude. The serv guy did offer to have the techs "loosen" the latch...not sure I want to chance water leaking if the latch is not holding the hatch as tight as it should. We'll see if the parts guy actually orders the part and if they call and install them any time in the near future. Just wanted to keep the thread updated.

so, I went to the dealership today to talk about and hopefully fix this. The thing is part #84415-cd715 is from a 350z and was made because of a tsb on a 2004 350z. The only folks that are having the issue should be ones with spoliers ( extra weight ). I was told Nissan knows about the issue and a fix will be issued soon. For now, I'll check out the penny fix.

true, you are correct these springlifts were the result of a TSB for the 04 350z...

however, i for one can tell everyone without a doubt that these springlifts are right for the 370z's with the spoilers as well as the nismos with the heavier spoilers...

i foresee nissan using the same springlift only possibly designating a different part number to be reflected in a TSB for the 370z's...

Had a call from my service mgr today and he said those exact words. He agrees the longer spring was for a 350 and that he fully expects Nissan to list them as a fix for this problem but under a different part number. He has no idea how long it will take but he feels sure it will be soon. In the meantime they plan to install the longer spring on my Z and just write them off. Only problem is down the road there will be no record on the VIN about the change and if there is lift or hinge failure there could be a problem. I've agreed to wait a week to see if the area rep comes up with something. It's like the engineers didn't think something this small and obscure through very well. My guy actually said if Nissan doesn't come thru soon he would go with the 3 penny fix...can you believe that?

the 3 penny fix was a failure after awhile...it worked good for about two weeks then started to do the same thing of not opening on the first push of the button...

just get the springs, youll be glad you did, youll be able to put this issue behind you and forget about it...your nissan dealer should open a work ticket for this, so you would be covered down the line...though doubt youll need to worry...

I didn't think the penny fix had much merit. I'm going to push for them to go ahead and install the longer spring and be done with it. I'm a little tired of the whole thing. It is a simple fix...let's just get on with it. Let me be a "tester". I'll be happy to keep them updated of the results.

nissan hq called me back a week after the install to follow up...

i let them know how well the springs were working...the more positive input they get, could mean the quicker a tsb is released...

I originally had this problem. However, since we started into our summer in Australia I found the problem no longer exist. I also noticed now that the US is getting into their winter, the problem seems to be more prevalent.
