Wait about a year, they will fail again. This is not a permanent fix

^ I hear that...so true. Had mine replaced within a few months of owning the car, purchased Mar 2009 and now cold weather and two years later it's starting to act up again. Not all the time thou.... I will have to pull out the camcorder and record it as the dealer will not replace it unless they see it. Video recording is the sure thing!!

I'll do the penny mod if/when the new springs fail.

Had mine replaced last week during oil change. Works much more assuredly now.

last winter was pretty mild here, so mine worked every time.

i guess colder places can place more stress on the springs, not to mention metal compression in a constant cold environment.

Does this apply to 2010 models? Mine sticks sometimes and I have to press the button again. I notice it will work fine if I hold the button for a split second longer. Is there a "TSB" for the 2010 hatch?

this is the new parts number 84415-1EA1E? No what viper posted? just read all fifty pags and my eyes are bugging. Viper wrote 84415-CD71A. Others have said that the spring is longer (yourself), while others have said the spring looks the same just stiffer. What part number should I ask for? Thanks and didnt mean to wake up the dead.

the pt# in the first post is for the longer one. I would go with the longer one especially if you have a spoiler.

Sorry one more question. What is the difference between the part you posted in the first post and Viper's? They are both improved springs just vipers is shorter?

like you said, the shorter has a stiffer spring than the original failing one.

i had mine replaced with the longer version and had no more issues at all.

Do you guys know if the oem springs being used in a base 370z and a Nismo 370z are the same? Because Nismo version has a big wing on it thus adds more weight to the hatch.
