Cause mine sure as hell didnt open completely this morning, and seemed to be opening just the same as before the swap. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, though...
Mine have yet to fail me since I have installed them, but it has not been super cold or anything else extreme.

I just had mine replaced. They do NOT look like this:

The new ones are a little longer and a lot stiffer. When I went there I asked to see them and I took mine off so I could compare them, as I knew others had problems with the dealer installing the same ones... They are different but you have to look close to even tell...

No issues yet, and it happened a lot before... We shall see...

For those having problems with their dealer not ordering these under warantee: I had gone in for them to look at them and as expected it was working fine for them. They sent me on my way, and said if it happens more often to make another appt to bring it in. They have to see it in person. Then a few weeks later after rading this thread, I got pissed so I called to speak to the Manager and had to get loud and rude for them to finally order the part for me. Don't play nice if they are jerking you around!

Here's what my new springs look like. Sorry about the crap pic. Didn't feel like dragging out my camera.

If your dealer didn't order the springs, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that they didn't install the new ones. I doubt VERY seriously that any dealers keep these as a stock item. Not in my area of the country anyway.

Is there any distinguishing marking on them that you can see over the old ones?

I didn't really look at my old ones before I had them swapped out. The only time that my old springs worked was when I DIDN'T have my arms full of grocery bags. Got pretty tired of opening the hatch with my head.

Mine have worked every time since I had them replaced.

Just had mine fixed this week, they look the same as the original. However, they are much stronger. It now requires a fair amount of effort to close the hatch now whereas before I could drop the hatch from a smaller height to close it.

Hello all,

I just finalized my spring problem with Nissan here in Sweden. They have been very helpful in resolving my problem, with the help of inputs from this forum.

After having replaced the original factory mounted springs with the new part number as per the United States TSB, I noticed after about a week that there was no difference in operation. They still failed to pop open the rear hatch properly.

Using the pictures from Vipors album( Nissan 370Z Forum - vipor's Album: Rear Hatch Springs ), I contacted Nissan again with the new part number as per the invoice picture. My local Nissan dealer found the same part number in the Nissan Spare parts system, and ordered them. Please note: The springs are not intended for the 370Z, according to the dealer, but were ordered any way. Also, no TSB for this problem has been issued yet in Europe.

Today I changed out the springs to the non-official/extra long version, and they work perfectly. Please note that the rubber packing from the original springs must be used to enable the 1/4 turning of the spring connection.

Good luck to all.

I just got around to messing with this and had the dealer print the TSB and order the parts. I get to the dealership today and they had the same springs and part number as the current springs on the car So like s.storm did I showed the parts guy a picture of the longer springs. He states before he could give me those he would have to clear it with Nissan on Monday.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but what I found out is if you simply hold the button for a bit it usually always releases the latch.

My replacement springs (the ones that look like the original. However, much stronger) have been in for over a month now and no problems, even with the cooler weather we are having at the moment.

Default 370Z Rear Hatch Springs

My 2009 370Z started giving me problems about 6 months ago. When I last took it for service, I told the dealer service manager about it and how many other owners had the same issue. He had not heard about it, but said he would investigate and get back with me. A few weeks later they called me telling me they had the new springs. Once they were installed, I have not had any more problems with the rear hatch not opening as it should.
