that 17 should move up for us though with the Altima and Z winning the initial quality awards.

EDIT: might take a while, just realized it's a CR ranking.

This was the day I got them installed, probably a smidgen lower now, but I still haven't seen it fail once since the install.

When you took yours to get exchanged did they have to see that your trunk was getting stuck? When I took mine since it was not getting stuck they said they could not fix but when I got home the trunk would not release.

What do I need to do for them to put the bigger springs if they can't replicate the problem when I'm over there?

I'll say this again, but they have updated the part number for the stock spring lifts for the Z. If you tell them to check the part number, they will see that the number has been updated which will give them the go ahead to order replacements under warranty. This was the information I was given by the service manager at a local dealer I have been dealing with. They were on back order last I heard, but they should come in within a couple weeks.

I received mine this week and they are indeed a bit taller and stiffer.

For What It's Worth

I have an '09 base Z with no spoiler. If I press the button to release the hatch and lift, it opens sometimes and catches sometimes. However, if I press the button and wait for just a split second, it opens the first time, every time. I think, it just takes an instant for the catch to complete its opening function.

there shouldn't be an asterisk next to the hatch popping instructions. it should work the first time, every time. if you can replicate the problem and it doesn't only happen 10% of the time or something then definitely go get it taken care of.

Hi. I am new to this forum and would like to vote on the poll about the hatch not opening. I am having the same issue and would definitely like for Nissan to acknowledge this and get a fix for it. So, how do I vote on the poll that AK posted?

vipor 01-18-2010 07:37 PM

i wasnt aware that AK did a poll for the hatch :icon08:

funny 18,000 years and still the stuck hatch issue :bowrofl:

guess i'll be buying a hyundai after this

I just don't understand how this issue could affect a person's position on brand loyalty. Granted this is really a sill yissue that should hav enever come up, but it's not tha tbig of a deal. On a scale of 1-10 this is no greater than a 1, I'd be hard pressed to imagine a problem that was less significant that would necessitate a trip to the service dept.

But to each there own.

StillenZ 01-20-2010 06:32 PM

LOL... so I have been sitting here reading this thread for the past month or so... thinking to myself, "man it must suck to be those guys who go to get it fixed and either can't because of stubborn dealer or can't repeat the issue."

Up until today I would have said that my hatch sticks 90% of the time. Well, today I went to the dealer for an oil change and told them to check it out. They thought that I was just plain stupid. I went to pick up my car and the service manager sat there and opened and closed my hatch about 50-75 times..YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!.. it worked perfectly every time.... and never, ever works perfectly.

I know I am going to get flamed, but that is why I am just going to buy the replacements. I do not have the time to deal with we "could not replicate the problem" excuses.
