Same for my June build 2010. Apparently we have a different version. Still going to fail, so pull the fuse or get the harness.

96 pounds isn't TERRIBLE considering we had members shafted for $1400

Unfortunately you're going to NorCal, but you should go to a shooting range seeing as you really don't have guns in the UK. LOL
(Or tell me the date and I'll see if I can drive up)

My guess is that you already have the Rev D ESCL/SLU. If you can get your head under the dash, you should be able to see the label.

I ordered online a Rev D to replace my Rev A version steering lock back in March of 2012. I had it installed at my local Nissan dealership before I actually suffered a failure. No problems with it since. I have sent off a request (including scans of my receipts) to Nissan North America asking for a full refund of the cost of the steering lock and the labor charged by the Nissan Service department to install it. I'll update when I get a response of whether or not I am successful.

According to the campaign, as long as a dealershit did the repair, they SHOULD refund you

So you guys recommend I pull the fuse anyway? I'm thinking I will, but just thought I'd ask.
Yea I'd still pull the fuse if I were you.

Does anyone know what revisions of the steering lock are recalled, is it all of A, B, and C? (D is the replacement?)

I moved so probably missed my letter if I got one.. I guess I will take it in to the dealer tomorrow and see.

Got my official recall notification today in the mail - text thus:

NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
National Headquarters
Consumer Affairs Department
P.O. Box 685003
Franklin, Tennessee 37068-5003

(My Name)
(My Address)

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Dear Nissan Owner:

Nissan is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. We believe that our current and future success depends on your continued satisfaction with Nissan. With that in mind, we want to bring to your attention important information regarding your Nissan 370Z.

REASON FOR SERVICE CAMPAIGN

Your 370Z is equipped with an Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) that locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is turned off to help prevent theft. On some 370Z vehicles, due to a manufacturing irregularity that has since been corrected, the ESCL may malfunction after the vehicle is locked and could prevent the engine from starting. This condition, should it occur, will only occur when attempting to start the vehicle, and not while driving. To help prevent this from occurring, Nissan will replace the ESCL assembly in your vehicle.

WHAT NISSAN WILL DO

Your Nissan dealer will replace the Electric Steering Column Lock (ESCL) free of charge for parts and labor.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Contact your Nissan dealer at your earliest convenience in order to arrange an appointment. To ensure the least inconvenience for you, it is important that you have an appointment before bringing your vehicle to the Nissan dealer for service. Please bring this notice with you when you keep your service appointment. Instructions have been sent to your Nissan dealer.

If the dealer fails, or is unable to complete the service free of charge, you may contact the National Consumer Affairs Department, Nissan North America, Inc., P.O. Box 685003, Franklin, TN 37068-5003. The toll free number is 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261).

Thank you for providing us an opportunity to ensure on-going satisfaction with your Nissan vehicle.

As far as I can tell (I didn't wait to get a letter), it's for Revs A-C (2009-2010). But, yeah, your dealer can tell you for sure.

I had mine replaced today. Once they got it into the shop, it was only a 25 minute job.
