Cranking but not firing
 

Alright so its been a couple weeks and the snow is finally gone and I figured I would take the Z out for a spin. When I hit the start button you can hear the car cranking but not firing and turning over. Any ideas?

And yes I just replaced the battery with no luck and am thinking it might be time to take it to the shop. Will keep you updated. :shakes head:

Sounds like you're either getting no spark or no fuel.
Check all the fuses and look for a loose connector in the engine compartment. Edit: A lot of the fuses for the engine are in the IPDM-E/R which is next to the battery. See one of the "pull the SLU fuse" DIYs for info on how to get to the IPDM and fuses.
Is the fuel pump running? Listen for high-pitched whine right behind and between the seats.

Well after some inspecting it looks like the engine was flooded. Why would the engine flood, all I did was let the car sit for 2 weeks while it was snowing? Strange, wonder if anyone else has had this happen after letting there z sit for a couple weeks

Buy/rent/borrow an OBD scanner and see if there are any stored error codes.

I didn't know you could flood a modern engine, especially one with throttle-by-wire, unless there was a major malfunction (eg, injector stuck wide open). If there is no error code, I'm not going to be much help. :(

Yeah... that's weird.

That really shouldn't happen on a modern fuel injected engine. I don't even really see how that could happen... Were the plugs fouled? Also wondering if there were any codes.

My guess would be the potency of the octane degraded due to sitting for so long. You can add an additive for this. Most auto stores like AutoZone, Napa, O Riley’s Etc carry this product and recommend using when storing a car for a long period of time. Not sure the correct name of this product but have seen it. My 2 cents.

Also, if anything a reduced octane would make the car easier to start, not harder.

I'm wondering if ice and such got in and screwed with the MAF or IAT sensors or something. That seems much more likely, and could cause the car to run pig rich on start up as well.
