Default Small bump - Bonnet popped... Advise please

Hi All,

Hoping someone could give me some advise. In Europe we have regulations requiring fitment of a pedestrian safety device which pops the hood in the event of a perceived crash.

Last night I came around a roundabout and the back wheels slipped out on some diesel on the road causing me to curb the left front wheel (minor damage to alloy). This occurred @ about 20mph ~.

With this something more annoying happened... The bonnet popped up by firing off the actuators. As I understand it they are one time use and will need to be replaced. I would like to drive the car while I wait for these to be fitted as there is nothing else wrong with it so the question is...

Is it possible to remove these actuators by myself (I am fairly handy)? I don't quite see how you can get them to go down again so I guess they need to be removed. Any advise ? Anyone deal with this before ?

Any input appreciated !

Onece pop up engine hood fired off, you need to replace both oh hinge and sensor in the front bumper to new one.
You can use US model of hinge which does not have pop up feature, or use the pop up engine hood canceler. Japan model also has same feature.

Wow that sucks... Can you post pictures just out of curiosity? And can the dealer replace them under warranty because you didn't actually hit someone/something?

I have one set of canceller for sale. Never opened, brand new.
I brought it from japan never knowing that US model does not have this feature.
If interested, lmk.

Can you please post link of the Japanese site where you've purchased the cancellers?
