oil consumption over 60k

Alright men here's the deal. My dumbass sort of had a gut feeling the majority of the time I've owned the car that my ride has the oil consump issue. Problem is I'm over 60k and basically procrastinated getting fixed. Foolish I know. Would it even be worth taking to dealership now? Should I go lemon law route?

Lemon laws has time constraints. Are you sure it's oil consumption? Was it ever documented? I think You're out of luck on this one.

Why were you lazy on this? I check the oil level and tire pressure on all my cars every other week. It doesn't take long and you can spot issues quickly. You're likely out of luck.

Why do you now think you have an issue?

I did last hand full of oil changes after 3k and dipstick been dry.

I know man...no excuse on the laziness thing. Really maybe its a life lesson sorta deal as I tend to be the master procrastinator.

100% oil consumption. Unless you have an extended warranty you are SOL. I would go to the dealership and see if you can buy an extended still. If you can get it and wait a few months while being very on top of the oil issue, like topping off at every 500 miles. Go back in a few months and deal with the issue. Here is a picture of what it looks like in the cylinder when you have oil consumption issues. It is the lowest ring, oil ring, on the piston and it is letting oil come up into the cylinder. Or look at trading in ASAP and dont let this happen again on the next car.... I have an 09 and this is the 3rd motor and hopefully the last....

I just started my second oil cosumption test as I failed the first. I broke in the second engine with 1200 pain stakingly slow miles. Now after 10,000 miles it still is using oil.

I use my engine and rev it hard. Is this similar to your driving habits?

Not surprised! Nissan maybe changing the valve train geometry in the future... Don't quote me though. Yeah, the oil ring appears to be an issue on the 2009 engines if the car is driven hard. Not sure if the oil ring was a different one on the newer engines.

If you have clear documentation of having had the problem before your warranty ran out you might be able to work something out with a very, very friendly dealer.

There are people who run their engines hard and don't have the same problem. I think it is luck of the draw.

I got over 1000 track miles and 400+ autox runs, still on original engine. I did break a gas tank though.....

My second motor was changed one month prior to the TSB. June 29th, 2010. And yes, I drive the car VERY VERY hard. Zero launches, but everything after that is fair game..... Snagging second on the RE050's and walking it sideways while feather the clutch fighting for traction kinda of fair game. Just got it back today. Doing the 1200 mile break in is going to suck..... When did your first get changed out? If I get the problem again I am going to wait for the 2014's and probably trade in.

I mean i drive my car fairly hard for street use at times. But nothing that warrants my engine using quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I do notice that the harder I drive the more oil gets guzzled. This sucks. I really love my Z. Oh well, I'm going to part out this week and put stock pieces back into place. I'm thinking I might get a Magma Red Nismo this go around!
