over revving problem..
 

Hello everyone, so I bought my 2009 370z about a year ago, only has about 23,000 miles on it. And I've had some major issues lately. Whenever I drive it, doesn't matter hot/cold, morning/night, I'll be sitting at a stop light, or just coasting in neutral, and it starts idling at almost 3,000rpms or higher.
I have actually sat at a red light and watched it climb from it's usual about 500 rpm, up to 4,500! My foot is not on the gas I have even gotten out of the car and it still revs like it's racing. I haven't been able to find anyone else who has had this issue before so maybe I really do have the Z ghost haunting me. Granted I have a warranty so it is going to the dealership for sure, but I just wondered if anyone else has had this issue before or if anyone has any educated idea as to what it could be?

Thank you m4a1mustang, I took a look at TheWeatherman's story and he seems to be having the same issue. I'm just worried that mine is happening all the time, took me about 25 minutes in traffic to take girlfriend to the college and the only thing to stop my car from revving so high at stop lights was holding the brake and having the car in first letting off of the clutch enough to bring it back down to normal, but still revved up when pushed clutch back in. I suppose the dealership will be able to know what the issue is.

M4a1mustang, was the issue ever resolved in that thread? I read through most of it and saw lots of speculation, but no resolution.

It was a while ago so I don't remember what the outcome was. Hopefully someone else can chime in with the answer.

hey , thanks for ur post. i own a 09 370z[ tour-sport 6mt] well and just realized that ihad an overreving issue w/my car a few times. in the past it only revved up for a few seconds my thoughts maybe auto choke sticking #i dunno,didnt really worry about. last week ,it revved up for more than 10 seconds @ about 4500 plus rpm while i was sitting in a parking lot ,this experience has my concern. i will be taking the z to my local dealer asap.
