Default New transmission after 600miles ?

So I just got my 2012 Base+sport MT on 3/6 and noticed 3days later that when in 4th gear the car makes a whining noise but in all other gears it is quite and to add to the frustration the car drives and shifts in and out of all gears smooth so with the exception to the noise it drives perfect .. .

i Finally decided to to bring it back to the dealer today3/22 as it has pasted the 500mile marker that everyone and there brother including the dealer said to wait as it maybe the car just settling to my driving or the "breaking in period" witch i fell for. The dealer calls me after a couple hours to tell me it is a problem they have not seen before ,something that is not harming the car from being driven but that they will be replacing and not fixing the transmission . the dealer also relays to me that they are flying someone in from the Nissan HQ in Nashville to document the trannys problem as it is a rarity they say ...

and after this i picked my car up and am now waiting for the transmission to come in to be swamped out .... figured i share the story and how it unfolds if anyone else is having the same issue .

That's a rather odd one. Unfortunately it probably happened right from the get go, either as an assembly defect or something got damaged during transportation (like left in gear on the transporter).

Dealers don't do transmission repairs (beyond the trivial) so you'll be getting a brand new one.

Sorry to hear about it but it will all be good soon.

Sounds like a defective trans. Should get a new, issue-free one.

That's very strange for a new car.

Nissan tranny is garbage .. I had one replaced on my Z after 4000 miles and one on my G after 12000 miles . Hopefully Nissan can step it up and fix this problem . You would think they would be getting tired of paying for warranty work ??????

Damn that's depressing to here man lol i mean i still love the car to death , but at least i know now not to be with outta warranty ,but its good that the dealer is replacing it right off the bat instead of trying to fix it i guess ....

At this point dealer techs arent trained to work on engines or trannys . Thedy find it easier and more c,ost effective just to do externalcomponent in car tests and just replace cause itd cost the auto man and dealer (nissan) more to do it like tfhey used to. Also , say if the engine was repaired improperly itd be double payout on nissans part

i cant agree with you, bonestock, man. im on nissan #6, making it 9 total in my family, and my neighbor has two, also the wife's friend has one. over a 15 year span, nissan has given me the most trouble free service of all the vehicles i have owned. what kind of trans did your g and z have, manual or trans? and how hard did you drive? when i was younger i was terribly hard on mine, and it still hel up. also, you are the first person i heard testify about a failed tranny at so early on in mileage. hoping others may chime in on this, good or bad.

that is because the mods delete every thread about issues with the z. There have been several posted (and subsequently deleted).

My car had the transmission replaced before I even took delivery of it....
