I'm trying to do neither, and just be honest here. Your motor is probably rickety-wrecked, and revving it like that for the video made me cringe like no other. When you hear ticking, you TURN THE CAR OFF AND LEAVE IT OFF until you figure out wtf is causing the ticking.

If you're lucky, its not your lack of crush washer that caused it, but you'd better put one on before you bring it in, that's for sure. And your best bet is to play the "LOLIDUNNOWUTHAPPENED" game, and hope they warranty it.

Also, while I respect you doing your own oil changes for the past 8 years...you may want to look at how our valve train works, what with the mention of rockers and lifters...
Well theres no reason to troll anyway. I didn't do anything wrong. But I'll find a way to get a new bolt and washer in the mean time and have it towed.

I know engines and that is a rod knock. Engine rebuild or warranty replacement issue. That bottom end is shot.

Sound like you spun a rod bearing maybe two. Yes good thing you had it towed it could throw a rod through the block running it much more. Right now it's just chewing into the crankshaft.

Sound and oil temp issues strongly indicate bearing failure secondary to oil starvation.
I am very curious as to why oil starvation occured--where did it go?
Check your filter for puncture, etc.
Also check tail pipes for absurd soot.
How many miles on this oil fill?
You have already messed up by adding oil, driving, etc. Next time call dealer ASAP when something goes awry. However, it sounds like this is honestly nothing you did, and a good dealership should take care of you.
Good luck, and if possible, please provide us with a failure analysis. Cars do not all of a sudden start using oil without cause.

It is possible that you have a oil consuming block... I suspect I might. 5 qts is a lot though... I think about 2k miles I was down a bit over a quart last time I checked... unless you have been 8k+ since your last change, there was something else at play here too.

Keep us updated Synack. By reading your sig it sounds like you have some mods done to your Z. If they are power mods, you may want to take them off just incase the dealership gives you any warranty hassle.

All model years of every car have units that aren't put together quite right.

I have the HPS tubes and a catback. They shouldn't care. This dealership personally installs and tunes all kinds of Z's, G's, GTR's, etc etc and they are very good about letting you keep the most of your warranty, if you install and tune with them of course.

I will definitely keep this updated. I just put in the crush washer. That bolt was on there extremely tight and it looks like not a SINGLE drop of oil has ever escaped there. There were no signs of oil new or old that has ever been in that region. Including the plastic bottom cover of the engine, completely clean. But the washer is in there now. Going to have it towed AFTER the Daytona 500 today.

Thanks but I'm unsure if whether I should tell them that I added new oil in or not. Or just hand it to them and say "I just started the car and it was making these horrible noises!"

i don't think adding oil would disqualify you for warranty work. you did what anybody would naturally first think to do - add oil. personally, i'd be straight up with them.
