Default 30K mile service- warranty question

Hello,

So I'm at about 27K miles on my Z and am due for an oil change. Now that I think about it, I'm almost due for the 30K mile service too. A couple questions on this service:

1.) If I didn't have the dealership do the service by 30K miles does it void my warranty? I have the Nissan Security Plus (100,000 mile wrap) warranty.
2.) What can I expect to pay for this service?

Thanks in advance!

My dealer had "their own" list of things to do and I failed to tell them not to do some of them, such as new wiper inserts and a few other minor things.
I also had them change the diff fluid and gear oil, both with my fluids. Brought my own engine oil also. I paid $473.

Your best bet would be to call the dealer and ask for pricing.

It will not void your warranty, the price can vary depending on your dealer.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I'll call tomorrow for an estimate and post what their response is. Hopefully it's no more than $400-$500 because that's what I budgeted for.

Also, I'm surprised not doing this would NOT void my warranty. I have a feeling if I had an issue with something they could just come back and say "well we would have caught that during your xxx mile service so your SOL!"

Here is the Service and Maintenance Guide:

http://www.nissanusa.com/pdf/techpub...2010_N_SMG.pdf

Checkout page 24 and you can see what you might need to have done (depending on what you have already done in the past)

I stopped going to the dealer a long time ago unless it's for warranty related items. Feel free to go to a trusted mechanic to have the same service done and not have to worry about any warranty issues from it.

Ok so I checked with my neighborhood Nissan dealership and they said $470 (includes tax) for the basic recommended items. Sucks a**, but I guess a small price to pay every once in a great while for this car

Jeebus, that's highway robbery.

No other trusted mechanics in your area? You don't have to go to the dealer you know.

if you don't have a trusted mechanic seek one out. I barely trust the dealers to begin with let alone paying them that much for 30k service

There are probably a bunch of niggly things they do that you could do at parts cost. Such as wiper blades, etc.

I can't remember everything they said they do but aside from some inspections on things they were: diff flush, coolant flush, blades, in cabin filter, air filter, fully synthetic oil change. The problem for me is that I don't know the area too well here and certainly don't have a trusted mechanic.

I would suggest you ask around in your regional forum:

Mid Western Region - Nissan 370Z Forum

The last time I went to a dealership just for a simple oil change and they got oil all over my engine bay

Buy the belts online say like courtesynissan and save a bundle versus dealer part price.

Dealers make more in service than sales nowadays, no reason to take it to them exclusively!
