Driver's Seat Foam Collapsing
Today, on the way to work, I noticed that my left buttcheek was really sore, like I was sitting on an iron bar instead of a nice, padded drivers seat. Turns out, that's because I was sitting on an iron bar! My seat foam has collapsed again for the second time Nissan replaced my entire seat the last time, and I'm assuming they will have to do so again; I'm scheduled to drop it off tomorrow.
Has anyone else had this happen? Nissan told me the last time that it was almost unheard of, but who knows if you can trust them. Basically, imagine the foamy part of your seat that curves up against your left leg dropping down and to the left by a couple of inches. It completely exposes the iron bar in the frame and is very, very painful. For the record, I'm not a heavy person; I'm 6'3" and 190 pounds, so it's not collapsing for that reason. |
and im assuming you have the leather seats? since your sig says touring
im heavier than you and I haven't had any issues with mine (23,000 mi) |
Do you sit with your wallet in your back pocket?

It's time for Bride or Recaro Seats

seems strange, I have leather, im 220, its an 09 and it hasnt even copied my butt print yet.. good luck, hopefully they replace it properly this time around?
|
strange indeed... stop flexing your as$ cheek maybe, lol
Are 100% sure they really replaced the whole seat last time? |
Perhaps something about the way you clutch if you have the 6MT?
I saw someone else complaining about the seat leather wearing due to leg motion when clutching. |
Can you post up some pictures please?

I do have the leather seats. The Nissan people said that it has something to do with the cheap factory foam that they stuff inside it. In a fit of overkill, they are again replacing the entire seat. I told them they should just put better foam in, but the corporate office says no, if it's under warranty, they can't do what they think are half-measures.
No pictures, as it's already at the dealership. |
hope you dont go to universal city nissan

My left hip was getting sore as well and I could feel a bar in the bolster. I removed the seat from the car and pulled off the upholstery (2011 nismo, 8,000 mi). Not difficult to do, take pictures as you for putting it back together. I also have upholstery hog pliers and clips to reinstall fabric. The foam had slipped down below the bar and was mostly pushed under the bar instead of wrapped over it. Being late at night and wanting it back together before wife freaked out seeing seat ripped apart, I opted to use 1/2" dense foam pipe wrap to cover the bar and more foam to beef up that area. It worked great as it has adhesive to glue the edges together. I went ahead and did the right side as well. I figured it will feel tighter as I added more foam knowing it would eventually break down and feel stock again. So far it has not broken down and seat is a little tight to sit in. I'm 6', 240lbs so my *** fills the seat anyway.
