My 09 is fixing to roll over 36,000. And i plan on keeping the car for 2 more years... And i hate paying for repairs which if something does happen i will take to my dealership which i trust.... i figure i will have about 75,000
on the car when i sell or trade. i can get a extended bumper to bumper
warranty from my dealer for 1166.00 or 62.00 a month. since the 09 was a
new model kind of worried about long term use. an a/c replace would be at
least 1100 in its self.

to gamble or not that's the rub.

any comments welcomed.......

Extended warranties are a waste of money most of the time.

Keep in mind you will still have a powertrain warranty to 50k miles (I believe) or 5 years, whichever comes first.

powertrain is 5 yr/ 60K mile.

Counterpoint is that if you are keeping a car for 6-7 years and you can get a 100K/6-7year bumper to bumper extended warrantee for a good deal, it's not a bad thing for peace fo mind. One major failure and you could basically be breaking even.

For someone who changes cars every 3 years or less, then, absolutely waste of $$$.

Steering lock seems to fail on pretty much all the '09s at some point. Andrew just told me last week that the steering lock failed on my old Z.

Seems to be an issue with 09 owners and 10s with a build date up to Apr 2010 iirc. Not every owner, but enough have had the problem that it's something to be aware of if you fall in this group and haven't had a failure yet. Kenchan made a big thread on here aobut it and what parts need to be repalced so it is fixed.

It should be on the white sticker inside the door jam that has your VIN on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the steering lock wasn't covered under warranty right? Or was there a TSB, that changed that?

It's covered under warranty if it happens under warranty. If your bumper-to-bumper coverage has expired you're SOL.

ask me, you don't need a warranty. i have 82k and no issues. save your cash and put it in a savings account and you'll be fine

If a TSB out then even after the warranty is over it should or is cover. However I don't know that a TSB in out.
