Any one else had two 6mt transmission failures in 36000

This my second new transmission within 36000 miles. the first had 6th gear syncro issues and the second began to whine terribly. I am concerned that this 18000 mile tranny replacement will continue. Is this a unique problem?

I think theDreamer has had his transmission replaced twice.

My car needed several swaps

Sounds like a "unique" problem ... to you. Not trying to be nasty or anything, but really? Two failures in that short of time. Sounds like extremely bad luck or an operational "issue".

Sorry, that's the politest way I could think of to describe how one uses/abuses a transmission. (If that is, in fact the case.)

And many more. The 5th gear issue is acknowledged by Nissan....it is pretty ignorant to post something so wrong and deliberately inflammatory.

I am still on number 2 transmission actually, though my 5th gear does grind still.
Will get it replaced again, but this time around we are going to do some other upgrades (clutch/flywheel/csc) at the same time.

Damn OP, that's terrible. I hope 3rd times the charm if you do wind up replacing it again. There's a few folks here, as you can see, that have had mulitple trans issues, but it's not the norm imo.

Certainly not so uncommon that one should imply abuse.

ChipsWithDips 01-13-2012 03:56 PM

My 5th gear started grinding recently when it's cold. only about 8K on my car. I've been driving manual tranny for about 14years and never had such issues with synchros going out like this. I'm gonna have to take it in to the dealer soon, but been procrastinating because **** I hate dealing with dealerships.
