Clunky Noise when rolling to a stop.
Tomorrow I have an appt at Colonial Nissan in NE Philadelphia to have an issue checked out - a clunky noise coming from what sounds like my rear suspension. I only hear it when braking in the 10mph-0mph range and coming to a stop. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.
When I called to make the appt, the service manager said nonchalantly that he hears it all the time and to bring it in. My car has 29K on it and I've personally owned it for 3 weeks. Just curious if anyone knows what this may be? It's definitely not coming from the exhaust. |

29k... still on the stock brake pads?

It's possible it could be some chatter from the rotor/pads. You can take a peak at the rear brakes to see how much pad is left.
Also, is the car a 7AT or 6MT?

Are you in gear when you are coming to a stop under 10mph (which gear)? At what speed do you pop the car out of gear... it could just be the drivetrain unloading, in which case a bit of a clunk at low speed is going to be totally normal. There's a bit of slack that will unwind when you are getting off throttle and getting out of gear.

That's interesting... it could be a number of things. Let us know what your dealership tells you it is and we'll see if it makes any sense.

I thought about the axle click too, but, like u, dismissed it because of the clunk.

Just got back from the dealership today and can't say enough good things about Colonial Nissan in Philadelphia. Good customer service, personable staff, and quick turnaround go a long way with me.
The service manager said the "rotors needed to be turned", whatever that means. Regardless, there is no more clunk and my car shifts smoother than before, which makes me wonder if they changed the fluids while my Z was in there. There wasn't a charge for the service. All I know is, I'm enjoying my car more than ever now. for Colonial Nissan. Last edited by Vertigo; 12-31-2011 at 06:09 PM. |
