Default Engine Oil LIght Question

My engine oil light came on the other day. I checked the manual and it says to turn the car off immediately as it indicates a drop in oil pressure.
I called the service department at my dealership and they said it's OK to drive it to the dealership (about 15 or 20 minutes away) to have it looked at.
I don't entirely trust this advice and, if they are wrong, my engine could be cooked, no?
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks in advance.

Are they on crack? No it is not safe to drive a car with low oil pressure (potentially zero oil pressure). It could just be a bad sensor but I wouldn't take the risk.

Check your oil level, if it is low that could be the cause of your oil pressure drop.

Thanks everyone. I will check oil level and if it is fine, I will have car towed to dealer.
