Engine Oil LIght Question
My engine oil light came on the other day. I checked the manual and it says to turn the car off immediately as it indicates a drop in oil pressure.
I called the service department at my dealership and they said it's OK to drive it to the dealership (about 15 or 20 minutes away) to have it looked at. I don't entirely trust this advice and, if they are wrong, my engine could be cooked, no? Anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance. |
Are they on crack? No it is not safe to drive a car with low oil pressure (potentially zero oil pressure). It could just be a bad sensor but I wouldn't take the risk.
Check your oil level, if it is low that could be the cause of your oil pressure drop. |
^ What he said.

Thanks everyone. I will check oil level and if it is fine, I will have car towed to dealer.
