Default First Warranty repacement

So, I was in the process of polishing up the rims today(it finally stopped raining) and I noticed this gem. It looks like someone shot my rim with a pellet gun or something. I've never seen curb rash like this before, even Nissan was baffled.Regardless, Nissan is replacing it for free , so I am happy.

Default Wow

Nissan will straight up tell something like no dice on replacing...say....brake pads (not that I tried, only quoting the manual) but a thousand dollar forged VOLK rim is not a problem if it looks like it was curbed?????? Somebody get my picture on a milk carton, cause Im lost on this one.

Same here, find out how much it is and if it can just be paid in full, which since my loan is already signed I am sure it will have to be.

I will go there tomorrow and get the word. I am going to guess that they will probably look at my rims and tires and make sure they are good at the moment.........then should be OK to purchase. At least I hope. I know for sure you can puchase any other extended warranty anytime before the 3 yr 36K mile warranty is reached.
As soon as I find out, I will post for everyones awareness.

Since the paint is still on the affected area and there appears to minimal if any disruption of the metal on the perimeter I'd say it was post paint. Should have been caught in QC. It might have been from a small surface defect in the forging process.

The thing is , I took ownership of this car with the rim like that, hence the replacement. Wouldn't you go and complain after dropping a ton of $$ and seeing the product is in defect? This replacement is isn't being covered by any warranty other than the basic one.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking too, although Nissan hasn't seen it before.

Sorry, should have said pre paint. Think twice write once.

I've worked as a supplier to Nissan and they have been far pickier on blemishes a couple of orders of magnitude less than the one noted on the wheel.

I think that you have to buy any extended warranty only on or before 30 days of your purchase. I remembered my "Nissan Financial Adviser" telling my that I only had 30 days to put 100K/72 mo. extended warranty, GAP Insurance, and other ultra some of them rip off plans (IMO).

But in this case, Mr. Ejrive, you did excellent use!!!!!!!!!!

If someone can correct me on the 30 days issue, I'll be glad to read it too.

i had the EXACT same issue on my GTR. there was a chip in the spoke. it came from im assuming a rock hitting it on the car transporter. since it was hanging off the bottom of the hauler when the delivered it. either that or it happened at port

the dealer stalled and stalled for months until 5 months later i said **** it and touched it up with some paint myself.

Well you would be really lost with my story....
I had a rim replaced under warranty because of these little black spots, kinda like the silver paint didnt stick in spots then clear coated over it. Clearly a manufacturing defect that got out, and no way done on my part, just didnt notice it until my first wash. So they said ok we will replace it not problem...

Funny thing is when they replace the defective rim with a brand new perfectly fine rim, they scratched the hell out of it in two spots when installing the tire. One very noticable on the side close to the tire about an inch long. The other just inside the edge not very noticable. They even bent it around the edge of the rim I'm guessing with the pry bar. I just look at the guy like WTF! This is worse than what came off! So he said they will order another.....

Finally I call a week later they say they have the rim in the parts dept., so I schedule an apt. for the next day. I get there the next day the service guy says there was a "miscommunication" and they didn't even have the rim! But he said since I was already there he would take the rim off the car in the showroom tire and all and put on mine. So at least they took care of me (somewhat). It was kind of funny seeing them jack the car up in the showroom with people everywhere! Wish I would have gotten pictures of the rims to show the damage, oh well stupid me.

My bad, I thought happened some time after you purchased and drove offf. Not straight from the lot like that.

None the less I will be heading over to Nissan in about an hour and find out what if any additional tire/rim warranty there is.
