It is common for airbag switches in many car models to not to activate if a smaller/lighter person sits in a non-standard way ( indian style, off to one side, etc), and with sport-style seats with higher side bolsters on the bottom cushion ( as is the case with the370z), it is even more sensitive to non-standard body positions.
