Learn something new everyday...I did not know that both Mobil 1 and K&N filters were made by the same people. I use the Mobil 1 filter simply because that is what Chrysler recommended as an OEM replacement to years ago.

On my Z32's the K&N and Frams were often associated with lifter tick at start up since they (at one point in time) lacked the anti-drain back valves found in the OEM filters.
Thanks for the information.

K&N filters are a little pricey, but We still only recommend OEM and its good to know that the OEM filters are designed properly!

That's funny that I mentioned about Champion Labs making both filters several post (#24) above but it was totally bypassed, LOL. I'm just poking fun with you, Dustin.

I'm with you on the price point. If there are just as good filters or better for a cheaper price or even better when there is a deal, I don't hesitate to jump on it. As long as it's reputable with quality, I'm not going to follow it religiously. If you've seen the OEM filter cut open and they are putting those "stuffed paper" on our Z's and they are "promoting" OEM filters, almost anything on the market is way better than that stuff, if you think about it.

I agree that OEM are designed properly and sufficient to handle the filtration duty but after seeing this write up with lots of pictures Nissan OEM versus Purolator Premium Plus, I opted for something "engineered better."
