On sale for $5.00, however they are recommending the PL 14612 not the PL 14610. What is the difference between the two? Will the PL14610 also work with the G37's? (My wife's car).

Thanks!
14610 is longer than the stock sized 14612, longer means more filter area and less pressure drop. Other than that they are identical. Should work on the G37 as well.

Just changed the Z's oil today using the PL-14610. A search of the forums (type in "PL-14610") brings up this informative thread....

OK i will bite, why are K&N oil filters bad?

I have only been using them on everything I own and for 5 years.

I can't speak to the K&N, but here is a cutaway comparison of OEM vs Purolator.

I'm using K&N, which I believe is manufactured by Champion Labs. They also make Mobil1. Just the engineering behind the filter design might slightly vary. But on my next oil change or after I use my last K&N, I will increase to the larger equal of others use of PureONE.

I was doing some doing on Mobil1 filters because I'm considering switching back but I came across that I saw was interesting and wanted to share: Best Oil Filter – Reviews and Rankings | Bestcovery.

you have to be careful with more densley packed filters on certain applications. it is known that some oil filters will effect oil pressure levels and also a Larger filter holds more oil so make sure you account for that. I'm sure their is a reason the GT-R filter is larger. anybody see if there are differences in the oil pick/return system between the VQ37VHR and the VR38DETT im sure there are. Plus if something goes wrong and you change your oil regularly I cant imagine Nissan service saying "oh its bc you used the NISSAN OEM standard oil filter for your vehicle." So its whatever Nissan/Infiniti puts on that I'm sticking with. Also I have a record of all services being done at a certified Nissan/Infiniti dealer using OEM parts so if I need warranty work they cant give me any sh*t. I personally enjoy Infiniti service better (nicer waiting areas lol). I cant imagine what crap they may say if they notice I use a GTR oil filter on my 370, i would already have to defend my intakes and exhaust, which would be easier then defending using the wrong size filter...Purolator wont warranty my motor if i had a pressure issue from using their filter that is for a GTR...just my .02

I use OE Nissan or NISMO on all of my Z's. If you want a LONGER OEM Nissan filter, just order one from the G37 Sedan. Its roughly 1" taller and will allow for more volume.

On past vehicles I've owned, I ve used Wix, NAPA GOLD (which is a rebranded WIX from what I recall ??), OEM or Mobile 1. I will not touch a FRAM or K&N.

Just my .02

Why won't you touch a K&N? Fram, I understand. K&N and Mobil 1 are both made by the same folks, are they not?

I hate talking oil and oil filters but...........
Champion Labs makes both Mobil 1 and K&N. Lots of motor heads will not use either Mobil 1 or K&N oil filters for a number of reasons, one being valve chatter at start-up issues. Search the internet for those voicing concerns/complaints. As you know, Fram, used to be considered (years ago) to be an aok filter is another that most every motor head will tell you to avoid. I myself go with Napa Gold / Wix.

ehh....one thing is price. K&N oil filters were a little pricey in comparison to others on the market. I understand paying for quality parts...and believe in it. But there are some products on the market where all you are doing is paying for a name.

Learn something new everyday...I did not know that both Mobil 1 and K&N filters were made by the same people. I use the Mobil 1 filter simply because that is what Chrysler recommended as an OEM replacement to years ago.

On my Z32's the K&N and Frams were often associated with lifter tick at start up since they (at one point in time) lacked the anti-drain back valves found in the OEM filters.
