Change rear diff fluid on VLSD?
Hello,
I just want to know if changing rear diff fluid is needed on cars that has VLSD? I thought it is a closed unit. I see the DIY and other threads about changing rear diff fluid, but it's for those with LSD.

You either has a VLSD or an open diff. The service manual doesn't differentiate between the two when it describes changing the fluid. Thus, I'd expect that either the VLSD or open diff both require periodic fluid changes.

My advice.... change the fluid after your break-in period (around 5-10K miles). And, put some decent synthetic fluid in the diff.

Thanks guys for the clarification. I probably stop by Corner3 Garage sometime in the future. I can do it myself, but from where I live I am not allowed to work on my cars. Damn apartments.

The Premium maintenance schedule says replace every 30k miles, the regular maintenance 1 & 2 schedules just show periodic inspections unless towing or driving on rough/gravel roads.
The 7AT is sealed and you don't replace that fluid.

It's a simple DIY but be prepared for the stinky stuff! The factory fluid smells like decayed fish heads....
