Warranty.
My car had accident on the front bumper about an year ago, and My car needed to change to new radiator and condensor. these parts were covered by insurance. My car was fixed @ local bodyshop.( these parts are Nissan OEM parts.)
Last week, I got Service engine soon light on the way home, so i went to dealership to get repair. they scaned my car and found code that was the misfire. they found that my car had accident history and start to telling me my car might not be covered under warranty. and after a few days, i got phone call from dealership and they said still couldn't find what cause of misfire, but It might be ECU. so need to order ECU from japan and take 2weeks. so i asked them if the misfire is caused of the ecu, does it cover under warranty? and they keep said "Don't know". My Q is... if car has accident history does basic warranty will void whatsoever?? |

good question. i believe it works like this.... if the accident happens and they had to replace a couple items, and that in turn makes something else
fail, i think nissan reserves the right to say what the third party did in correcting the accident issues, they aren't responsible for what failed do to parts they didn't install. now, if somehow this repair caused an issue with something else, why would the manufacturer be responsible for something they didn't do to the vehicle. But, on a better note, if this problem was caused by the accident as well, technically i think you can claim that repair on your insurance as well, since it was something they didn't notice, since it wasn't physical damage, but an electronics problem also caused by the accident. so the point i am tryin to make, is if nissan wont fix it because it was caused in the accident as well, they don't fix it because it wasn't a factory defect, it was caused in the accident as well and your insurance should fix it, since it was caused by the accident as well. your insurance just didn't find that problem at the time. either way, you don't pay. technicalities that sometimes work out in your favor!! that's my two cents |
