question - what would void the factory warranty?

so many mods that i want to do. but i want to know which mods will void the factory 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty.

If the factory feels the part you added caused a failure to an associated part they will attempt to void the warranty for that part. You put in an aftermarket cam and a valve fails and they won't pay for the valve. You put a cat back exhaust on and a valve fails they should cover the valve.

Bottom line they have to prove the part caused the failure. Likely scenario is that you will run out of cash and time before the factory does while fighting the issue.

You should consider whether or not you can afford a new engine when making mods to the engine.

Not sure there is a clear answer. Without going too deep, it depends on the dealership and the problem that you have related to the warranty. Like, an air intake will void any issues with MAF, but not your convertible top, for example.

If you search theres another thread on this somewhere where people chimed in. I'm not sure the title.

Edit: here ya go

i'm really not going to do all that much to the car. just probably intake, exhaust, and mufflers. so should i just call my local dealer and see what they say about it?

Your best bet is to call your dealer. Some are mod friendly and some will void your warranty for something ridiculous. Generally anything non mechanical will be fine such as rims ,audio, and body kits . Anything with the exhaust or intake they might want to void your warranty if you have engine problems.

if i call the dealer, who do i even speak to? the service department i'm guessing??
