WARNING! You may get stranded if you see this light.

I thought I'd post this up since this has happened to at least 4 other forum members, and twice for one of them.

If you Intelligent key light comes on, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO START YOUR CAR.

Yeah, if it comes on, take it too the dealer immediately and let them know the issues, there is no way to start the car if the PDM/steering lock solenoid fails. This will save you from having to tow it.

Thanks for the replies, it was the module went bad and for 1100 bucks they will fix it, guess it could have been worse I could have been gone on a trip somewhere, thinking I may just trade doubt that I would ever trust the car again, a 45000 dollar car should start. I'm a very unhappy nissan owner at the moment.

Or you could have just pulled the fuse for the steering lock out and never have to worry about it again. Takes all of 5 minutes.

After you get the SLU replaced, pull the fuse. I posted Links to posts about Steering Wheel Lock where you can find more info on the problem and at least three solutions (remove fuse, buy harness extension, or clip a wire).

I went with fuse removal - it's an easy job that only requires a tool to remove the plastic pop-rivets (eg, small flat-blade screwdriver) and something to extract the fuse (fingers, needle-nose pliers, hemostats, &c). As far as I can tell, there has only been one reported problem (passenger air bag/child seat may not work properly) and one idiosyncrasy (slight delay from pushing start button until crank (doesn't happen all the time and delay is short)) reported with the fuse removal method. I removed my fuse a week or so ago and haven't experienced any problems (but I don't have need for a child's seat).

It happened to me and I plugged my key into the slot and voila! Ignition. Turned out the connection to the wireless receiver came loose during my stereo install. :D

Sorry to get off topic OP, just need some quick help. Ok so yesterday I was taking out the interior plastics and carpet (because racecar).. even had to take some of the lower dash apart and removed the radio. Now when ever I get in the car, just says "no Key". I put in key in the fobgina and it starts everytime. Once I remove the key it gives me a warning of "no Key" again. So can someone tell me where the intelligent key wireless receiver is located? I'm assuming in the dash, I must have either not plugged it back in or the connection is loose. Taking the dashboard apart isn't fun so I hope someone can give me an idea where this sensor is located. Thanks!!!

This just to me today, lucky I was about to go on my lunch break and wasn't anywhere weird. When did this recall get issued, I just had my Z at the dealer in April for an oil change and nothing came out then.

I was trying all kinds of stuff to get my Z to start, I even took out the ignition fuse and my friend checked the continuity, tried a jump, then just called a tow truck
