Cooling fans not coming on
Alright, I've been trying to figure this out on my own but now I think its time to bring in the big guns.
Last year I had a similar issue, only the difference was that the cooling fans would not turn off. They were constantly on no matter what. I checked on here, ordered a new fan control module...problem solved. Exactly a year later... well a few days over a year, I realized that my fans were not coming on at all. I noticed it when my girlfriend and I went to go get tested for covid. The temps rose a bit higher than normal, but I monitored them and manually turned on the fans with the AC. Contacted the company that manufactured the fan control module and they said it is out of warranty and I would have to buy a new one. I dont know if i just got another faulty module or if something else is wrong. I have been trying to narrow the problem down. I know the fan motor and fans are operational. They turn on when the AC is turned on. I recently did a coolant flush, changed out all of my hoses with Z1 hoses and even swapped out the radiator and reservoir caps. Did not change the thermostat as i changed it about 2 years ago, but I know its opening because the bottom hose allows the coolant to pass. The car hasn't actually overheated, it just rose past the 220 that one time. My commute is short so the car does not have the chance to heat up too much. I'm stumped and dont know what else to do besides order a new control module and hope for the best... Thanks yall. PS. My heater core hose coupler disintegrated recently which prompted me to change all the hoses. I'd highly recommend checking the condition of yours. |
Where did you get the 220F temp reading at? What gauge?

Oil temp gauge
Coolant gauge has always remained at the halfway mark |

One of my buddies is a Z mechanic and he told me that as well.
It's just weird. Ive had the car for a while and I'll hear the fans kick on at around 210 and watch the temps drop back down. Lately I haven't been able to get the fans on at all unless I manually override them. I guess it's just me being overly cautious. I just did an oil change and got underneath the car to check for any additional leaks. Messed with the fan control module again to see if anything does the trick. |
