Steering lock failed again

I had the recall done originally in 2015 after being stranded and having to get the Z towed to the dealer. Now two days ago it happened again and had to be towed. They are telling me they won’t honor the recall even though they clearly didn’t fix it the first time. Nissan corporate is telling me the recalled part would have a 1 year / 12k mile warranty which is obviously expired now. Like wtf???

That's why they call them Stealerships :twocents:

Chances are they did perform the recall. The problem is the recall specifies they use a shitty Rev D version (Rev A,B,C are recalled), which is STILL PRONE TO FAILURE!

You're probably SOL. I'd give Nissan Corporate a call about the matter. I doubt it will do any good, but making a few phone calls is easy. You're best bet is probably to do some research (all the info you need is on this forum). Basically, try beating on the steering column while trying to start the car. If you get it started, pull the fuse immediately. Then spit on the dealer showroom floor, give em the bird, and drive away (burnout optional).

I ended up using my carmax warranty and only had to pay a $50 deductible. I’m still salty about it though. Probably will never buy a Nissan again the way they treated me. They don’t stand by their products.

Nissan screwed the pooch on installing faulty steering locks but there was plenty of info for people to be aware of.

I created and stickied a thread exclusivly for this issue to help members or the public.

Sorry to hear what happened But how the heck did you not see the doucumented threads on this exact issue especially on 09's.

I'd say $50 is pretty good and consider yourself lucky.

NOW GO AND DISCONNECT THAT STEERING LOCK!!
