P2A00 Code, Can this fix the problem?

Ok, so ive got the P2A00 code which seems common enough around here. So I have yet to start checking stuff such as the exhaust leak which is most likely my issue since I did HFC's a few months ago. My question though is, if it isnt an exhausts leak and it is the O2 sensor, can i do that trick where you clear the codes, take the MAF Sensor out and run the car for a few seconds, then clear the codes again, put the MAF sensor back and the computer should relearn and adjust, can i do that with old O2 sensors or is it only when replacing the old ones with new O2 sensors? Also do you guys think this is a reasonable fix? Do you think this is a dumb approach or could harm my car or anything? I just saw it on a couple forum posts and videos and wondered what you guys thought

R&R procedures are in the FSM (which appears to be readily available again).
